I actually didn't give my thoughts on the matter. I was merely suggesting a way of dealing with the occasional poor treatment you will certainly receive.

You will get dirty, but hard work this isn't.

I'm going to assume that he meant that's the way others perceive truckers. It wasn't his opinion of them.

I reserve that "lowest rung of the evolutionary ladder for mobile home movers and roofers"! :)

Thanks McBjork, you are correct. I have gotten soft sitting on my ### for 20 years. Prior to that I worked in construction so it's not like hard work is not in my nature, it's just been a while. I keep trying to picture myself tarping a load in the cold and heat, rain and snow.... it sends shivers down my spine!!! I figure in a year or so I'll be as 'BUFF' as those guys I see at the truck stop :biggrin_2559:

FYI on the DOT Physical. You will be required to complete one at Prime. Save your money and wait until you get to Prime on that one (unless you live in one of those states that require a DOT physical before their permit is issued. They won't accept outside DOT physical forms. If you have any health concerns, talk to your doctor first and just do a normal physical or regular check-up. If you had any health problems that could interfere with the job, then get the clearance before you come out here.

If you want flatbed, YOU WILL WORK and get dirty. You have to deal with all kinds of weather, hot, cold, rain, snow, ice.... Its dangerous, but rewarding. On the flip side, most of our customers are happy to see us and actually treat us like people.

    Howdy folks,

It's been a busy week. Trying to get studying done, DOT physical and pack up most of the apt so I won't have to worry about too much when I get back from training.

I went to my Dr's today and get my DOT long form filled out. He couldn't do the eye exam so I ran over to my eye dr and she filled that section out for me.

I do have a question for the group; What is this DOT Card they speak of? I read somewhere that you can shrink the last page of the DOT form down and put it on a card??? That seems an odd way to do it. Is there a group that issues a permanent card of some type???

I stopped by my local T/A yesterday and picked up the 2012 Rand McNally atlas. I sprung for the laminated version. I figured I might be wearing that thing out.

Still on schedule to head to Springmo for next Tuesday. I'm going to drive so I may leave Sunday, drive most of the way, crash, then finish up the drive on Monday and get settled in there. I'm getting anxious about it now!
