That depends where you attend school whether a room is included in the pkg or not.I attended a college for my cdl and the dorm room was included.A 3 month course for $4200.00.Far as a decent pay goes in this industry, that's highly questionable what you consider a good pay.The first yr you need to strictly focus on getting the exp.Companies pay on exp. Then you do get companies that say they pay like 40 cent per miles but do you really get the mies.Alot of glamour in what companies say.Companies will let you take hometime wherever you choose. You'll need to discuss your hometime days and how many you are allowed with your recruiter and dispatcher.Yes 2800 miles I obtainable.Thats a slow normal week in trucking but don't count on the miles to be consistant week after week.

Rich , have you thought about driving tankers or going the food service route...both are at the top of the pay scale for trucking (60k to 70k) with lots of home-time many of them being home every night. Where are you in Nevada that info would help-out.

I was concidering a local community college. They seem to be a good one, from what I see and hear. There are no dorms, but tuition is only 1020, for 4 weeks. As for a company I am wide open, as long as they operate in both the midwest and southeast. I am looking at TransAm, Heartland, Swift, etc.

Correction, school runs from jan 6th thru march 29th. Tuition is still 1020. I have been focusing on crete as a potential employer lately, and dont have many more in mind at this point. (I know I need to have a few others, but figure I got time to find them) Taking the DOT physical monday, as well as seeing an optometrist and getting a CDL permit. BTW, does anyone know if I will have to pay again for the three years I have remaining on my current CDL when I persent my road test papers to them in march? (currently I have a CDL that expires in April 2016)
