Well the 1st thing is not all the brokers that you work for are going to be down the street that you can go knock on their door. I suppose you could always find a load to take you in that general area.
What if it is a giant broker that has thousands of people working there? Are you going to March into the president of the whole company's office?
Brokers have broker authority just like a motor Carrier has motor Carrier authority. And there address is very simple to find just like any motor carriers Address is simple to find.
So when you start talking about skip tracers and that kind of stuff, if you are dealing with brokers that are in business one day and running from you the next you need to more carefully vet who you're working for.
But at any rate here's how it Will go down.
" I want my money!" "As we told you over the phone XYZ is the reason why your money is not Released". "I am a tough guy and I'm not leaving until I get my money and believe me pal you're going to pay me today!"
Then you will blink your eyes and you will be in the back of a police car. Then the policeman as he locks the door to your jail cell will explain to you that it's a civil matter between you and that individual but you going there being a tough guy have now created a criminal matter for yourself.
Then you will Have to pay to bail yourself out of jail and you still haven't solved the problem of not getting paid from the 1st guy.
In this world you've got to think smart. If you let everything that anybody does to you get under your skin and you don't take the proper channels to fix things, you're not gonna make it.
Just a general question/survey,About getting ripped off By A broker on a load

I think showing up at their office during business hours to make a peaceful inquiry is all right but at home....? Not so much...

Best to go through legal channels to recover money . Save your bol, invoice and load confirmation as well as any communications . Most these brokers are working for huge corporations and have various offices in different cities , if you decide to show up more than likely they will show you the door or call police and than you will lose more money than that load made you . I come from a rough back ground and I get it , who wouldn't want to run up on a broker for non payment? Hell just look at rates at the moment, 99. loads that were paying 1.75 last week I would love to slap a broker lol . Follow legal channels.

You know OP...not all all of them brokers are sissies to be intimidated, if that is what you propose...Always legal ways!

Youçd have had a hard time finding my ex-bro-n-law. The brokerage was in his g/f's name tied to a po box. She didn't do anything w/the llc. He di it all by phone/e-fax and face to face w/the shipper. So I guess you could've tried to trace his cell phone. lol

I think, in general, this non paying is not such big an issue. I've sent out maybe 350 or more invoices in the last 3.5 years and all of them were paid in full. Always check who you deal with to begin with.
