If someone comes up to you trying to sell you gold, or electronics head my warning. This very well may not be as it seems. Wow! OK! Yes it might look like gold, and it might be imprinted with 14k or 10k. If its a major brand unless you know for sure its an originial piece. DONT BUY IT! You would be amazed how many drivers get scammed by immitation junk on a day to day basis. > BE CAREFUL DONT GET SCAMMED!!! USE YOUR BRAIN!!! THINK BEFORE YOU PASS ON YOUR HARD EARNED CASH FOR JUNK!!! <

You sound like you've been scammed!!!

Better advise is to just not buy anything from anyone in the parking lot!

I love the story of "I work for so and so jewelers warehouse and I "stole" this and you can't beat this price"! I pan gold for fun and I've never in my life seen such shiny gold as this crapola is! You can even see the gold paint where it has drips in it!

Watch out for the "never took the TV out of the box" scam and that applies for ANY thing in a box! It's a brick or concrete block! Speakers with nice carpeting but no speakers! And the list goes on!

Now if you hear a reefer hauler getting rid of a case or box of something, grap it! That is if the reefer is running or it's cold in the trailer! It is usually an OS&D that he needs to get rid of mainly by trashing it but say a case of frozen chicken at $1.00 a pound is that type of deal you can't apass up and if your wife found out you passed that up with 3 children to feed you KNOW what you won't be getting that night!

Usually product with"damages," such as reefer products or dry freight household products can be a deal but Electronic products be careful and LOOK at everything you buy!

When I sell OS&D I will open the cases so they can see what they are getting! And to you that are about to raze my arse about selling OS&D, stuff it! I'm not trashing anything! Not if it can be sold less than cost and usually it's a family person who buys it to feed the kids! Now, I have traded for services such as my several favorite NYC resturants for several meals. I have a few that all I have to do is walk in the door and it's like I'm family! Not to mention the police and fire departments in my delivery area! I'm protected when I park on Monday and Tuesday nights in the Williamsburg area! And those guys can do a great BBQ in the back yard too!

If I can't get it to a donation site I'll sell it as I have to get on the CB and do my sales pitch and then put up with super truckers that think their peaked and tuned CB will out talk my 25 watt CB and some moron like I did at the Vince just below NYC who actually came up to my truck after I told him there was NO WAY he was buying chicken at any store for less than the dollar a pound that I was giving it away for! He almost got his arse kicked by the guy I was selling it to when he came up to get in MY face which would have been the second mistake for his day!

I do love trucking and miss it teribly!

Some deals can be great some not so! Be wary!

YES YES YES! Buy off from a refer truck!! That is if your close enough to home!! I have!

I bought 20 cases of single serve pizza's a couple years ago. Cases were dented, but never opened. The driver said the warehouse refused them because of the dents....

    I'm still eating those pizza's!!!

I purchased, chicken, beef brisket, steaks, fruit. When you get to a shipper they take what on the bol for them, if theres too many for what ever reason it gets left in the trailer, receiver don't know if theres one more drop or overage. If your on the oppsite side of the country it has to go.

Back when I drove for prime I dropped off at a walmart DC and Tyson put on 2 extra 20 lbs cases of chicken drumsticks, I was going home that day so I left them in the trailer and deadheaded my 200 miles home and yes I did leave the reefer. Free 40 pounds of chicken!!!

Good advise on the scam artists. I had a friend who got ripped off on a gambling game too!! I'm not a gambler but she and another driver got ripped off. There is a whole bunch of guys involved in it too. They say something along the line as this guy is crazy and he won a bunch of $$ from a casino or something and then u watch him and his little act and decide to play and unfortunately u will not win. I wouldn't fall for it but apparently others do.
