I think you're looking at the 'driver refreshment' thing wrong here. Read between the lines a bit. You can talk the talk. You can tell me all the things you can do. You can tell me you can back a truck in to a milk crate. I don't doubt that you can! But the kid behind the counter at McDonalds can tell me all that stuff, too. He can say everything you just did and, by some peoples' logic, they should just give him a job driving a big truck. If only. That stuff is all made so that they can see that you can actually do that stuff. When some guy gets in an accident because he doesn't know 3rd gear from 8th and loses control on a hill and the lawyer for the family of 4 he turned in to a family of 2 finds out he had no real experience, do you really think the company that hired him will be absolved of liability because he told the he could drive?

So in other words I forgot to say this. They want me 2 ride 6 weeks with a trainer Times say i drive 3k a week. That's 18K miles times say trainer makes .45 cpm = 8,100.00 Dollars that Trainer with LESS experience than me makes off me. I'll be paid 450 a week during that time , divided by 3K miles = 6.66 cents per mile ...LOL Go figure
Now Melton telling me that will cure me and make me safer than before?? Who's the fool here?? Hate to tell them as I will ALL. I'm NOT desperate. I don't have to drive truck or need a truck to live in. I want to come back out cause I can and want to and love it. Was in me all my life and what I know most of . There's a thread today a new driver that went thru half year training wrecked just after going solo. There's no guarantee who with what experience will wreck etc..... They say industry short 500K drivers. Well were here and wanting to but your being told you cant drive if you took a break. Anyway........ is what it is. Thats why I been working on coming out as O/O . I'm done venting and going to go take some BP medicine. LOL

Welcome aboard Triad. Based on your Ohio location I assume you went through Masury. Is Joe still their trainer/safety guy? I have had a total of 2 coils since I left training (first load out in Aug and then one Monday), but quite a bit of roofing materials. Been to 38 states in my first 90 days, so they have kept me busy and moving. I feel like I'm starting to get the hang of securement and am getting faster about all of it, but efficient is not a word you would use to describe my system - yet; getting there. All of the Melton drivers I have dealt with are friendly and super helpful, so don't be afraid to ask questions. Also, use your mentor for securement questions, too.

I just started as well. I'm really liking it here and the pay is pretty good. I'm still slow at securement the "Melton" way but I'm picking it all up quickly. I'm in 7644 if you see it. I would like to run in to some guys from the board here.

I'm definitely ready to ask other drivers for help when I get in a pinch and I'm going to call up my mentor whenever I'm stumped for sure, but fortunately, I learn quick and I will probably be at full swing before too long.

Yes what I know about Melton could have consequences if I revealed I just want drivers to know Melton isn't what you think they are. I'll tell you what also if i'd rather work for CRE anyday before working for Melton and that's really bad we all know how bad CRE is. Thanks be safe drivers
