Howdy folks, so I know some of the dangers of what Im about to ask, so dont bother with that...but Im curious if 1 carrier can streamline things by hauling produce directly out of the producer shed in Mexico to the end buyers destination in the US? Ive been seeing that this generally takes 3 carriers to do a 'through trailer' move (1 Mexican carrier to pickup on site and deliver to the border, 1 Mexican carrier to transfer it through customs and deliver in the safe zone, and 1 US carrier to deliver to the final destination) and Im just looking to see if this can be streamlined? Less trucks + less sitting = fresher produce. I know some of you will say that if it can be done then its already being done...Im proof that this is not always the case as I started a freight service to consolidate 2 carriers into 1 improving transit times, damage control and cost not to many years ago...
Just an outside the box idea...I know Im a lil crazy

Swift has a division called TransMex that runs direct from Mexico to all 48. I see them often in Texas and have seen them as far north as Iowa.
I remember looking it up and they had some kind of authority issued by FMCSA to haul from Mexico to all 48. I’d assume it’d be easier for a US carrier to get authority to do the same.Flat Earth Trucker, Rideandrepair and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
I am a US based carrier just looking into this to see how 'doable' it actually is. As far as MX operating authority, I havnt done any research on that yet

Well the thing is if you could figure it out, it would be a nice sweet corner of the market you would most likely have all to yourself.... Although as a white man, Mexico is not a place u want to be doing business in... Theres a lot of crooked #### that goes on there and i wouldnt be surprised if the cartel had a big hand in the produce markets out of there.... They may also have a hand in business that gets trucks across the border... Just speculating here... I would not ever do any business in mexico, it is bad enough going there in a personal car.

Avocados & Limes I think it was. They run a pay us and we won't torch your field/kill you/your family/other nasty things scheme. Basically the same #### the mob used to do with booze, tobacco, etc. Just nobody really cares here in the states. An Mexico as you mentioned can be pretty crooked.
I remember reading about it last year. Popped up on my newsfeed. Here's a couple articles from last year.

I like Mexico and it's people, shame they have all these issues with the Cartels, Government, etc.
Good luck.

Most of the produce out of MX is shipped bulk to the warehouse and then split to individual orders to the DC's.
Very little goes direct to the DC'sRideandrepair Thanks this. -
I hear some trucking companies in Mexico bullet proof their trucks and reinforce their front ends to be able to ram into multiple cars and keep going. Might be BS but I’ve heard that the cartels often try to steal trucks and their cargo with no certainty of what’s going to happen to the driver. I would guess that stuff goes on when you’re very deep into no man’s land. Honestly I think you’re better off letting someone from the area that knows where it’s ok and not ok to go.

I live for excitement and adrenaline and yes, I was very close to driving into a shootout with a cartel cell and the federali's once a few years ago, I love the rush! I know that its imperative to have cash on hand to pay your way outa situations, so theres that. Im just looking to do a one off kinda deal that could essentially super streamline things and benefit all parties involved. If the produce moves to a cooler in bulk to be redistributed later, wouldnt they already know where most of it is going? Especially due to shelf life? I cant imagine they'd want to have it sitting more then a day or 2.

Because trucks break down, reefers go down, drivers screw off. Prevents a complete shortage of a product.Flat Earth Trucker and Rideandrepair Thank this.
