Just bought a 05 Peterbilt 379 Boydstun 9 Car Carrier Combo

Can I make this work?

I bought the rig from a buddy of mine for $25,000.00 cash, but now I still owe the lender 29 installments of $2,052.00/monthly, so that’s another $59,508.00 I still gotta cough up. Dishing out that 25k really made things tight for me now, especially since I gotta come up with an extra $2,052 every month now, on top of my $2,500 a month rent for my house, and that’s not including all of my other living expenses. I’m starting to get nervous with the 1st of the month around the corner, and I’m already down to less than 10k left. If I get an experienced driver who has experience in car hauling and I pay him or her 30% of the gross, while getting loads thru Central Dispatch, can I really make this work? How much can I realistically expect to make? I don’t want to get rich or make a killing overnight, but can I cover my expenses, and at least get the ball rollin’? Or does it look like I just might’ve F’d up going head first into this blindly, not knowing nothing about it, or without even having a CDL?

 

The pictures I posted are of when my buddy still owned the truck and he had it on the road still.

I still haven’t done my first load yet.

 

Any suggestions please don’t hold back, I really need help figuring this thing out. I’ve got all of my eggs in this one basket. If this doesn’t work out I’m really facing the very real possibility of losing everything, even the roof over my family’s head.

 

I’ve been studying the CDL handbook and I’ve already setup an appointment at my local DMV in order to take the exam to get my (CLP) Commercial Learners Permit.

 

But I know for sure that I need to hire a driver ASAP.
