Going O/O, I just bought a truck, going to lease to company and work off their authority. The dealership is providing 20 day tags, I have all the proper insurance. Question is, do I have to follow hours of service if I am bobtailing it home and then to the company? Do I have to stop at scales? I will not be contracted commercially until I get to company. Do I have to sign the doors stating "not for hire"?

You need the sign on the door since your not under any authority. The sign means its ok since your not taking a load. Id stop at scales to be on the safe side although legaly you may not need to depending on state regs. If a dot cop sees you fly by though he may pull you over not seeing the not for hire sign at 65 mph. Id keep a log. If you need the sheets any truckstop sells blank ones. Even when running personal conveyance you need to log it. Its still a commercial vehicle...and my interpretation is you need a log unless you register it as recreational. Unless your planning on driving over 700 miles in a day, you can log it to be on the safe side.
