Hi Guys,
I just bought an 01 freightliner classic with an Cummins N14 500HP. I want to start making my wish list for it and the first toy I will buy for it is an exhaust. I was wonder if I should go with 7" or 8" stackers? I like decent loud but not something where if I put on the jack brakes the police will almost pull me over. Just wondering how loud the 2 exhausts are?
Thanks
Just bought an 01 freightliner classic 7" stacker exhaust or 8"?

Does "loud" add to fuel economy or horsepower?

Loud doesnt help anything not even the owner. It WILL attract more attention to you. Having a loud exhaust will only serve to wear you out VERY quickly. It will attract notice from DOT, it will attract complaints from neighborhoods that you drive through. It may even lead to fines or even more down time to make it quieter and or unwanted inspections.
Maybe you want a waste gate for the loud. A waste gate would allow you to bypass the muffler for shows. While allowing you to maintain the quiet ride you will need when working.
As to performance. Supposedly larger intake and larger pipe allows the engine to breath with less constriction. Yet with all the computer engineering going on these days, I tend to think you are customizing only and not gaining any performance out of it. -
Buy a yellow motor for it!

As far as looks go I personally like the 8" stacks.
