My setup is similar. The laptop stand will swivel around the quick disconnect all the way to the glove box in front of the passenger seat. It also swings far enough towards the driver seat for me to prop a couple of pilows against the window and type. I can also angle it towards the bunk and watch TV or movies. Mine gets fastened in and doesn't leave the mount until I go home.
Just bought and tried the Nuvi 465T

#### son....you arrived just in the nick of time.

I never used that black decorative cover because I felt like it was in the way. I just spray painted everything glossy black and it looks pretty sharp. It's easier to handle too.

I have just purchased it and upgraded to the new Software and Map data. One thing that I noticed is the new software does not support a profile for Delivery trucks. Now the only two options are Over the Road and Automobile. I was interested in using the Delivery truck profile to test routing on parkways in NJ where commerical vehicles are restricted.
Does anyone else see that change? Do you know why it was made? From reading a number of posts, it seems that this type of routing was not 100% reliable.
Thanks for any input.

Hey what about the POI database in the 465T, how good is it? Does it have all the truck stops including the franchise truck stops and the independent truck stops? Will it tell you whether a particular truck stop has a scale, whether it does repairs, whether it charges for parking, the size of the parking lot, etc. Does it show all of the weigh stations, rest areas, picnic/parking areas, turnpike service plazas, etc. Can you search for truck stops off your route that might be closer than the next one on your route and route to it?

It's decent. Doesn't have nearly all the truck stops and many of them have closed down. It does find fuel stops in places you'd otherwise never find. It has scale listings, searches out scales everywhere within 250 miles. It does search for repair shops and truck stops with repair, but does not show parking at all which is annoying. Doesn't show all the weigh stations, but has warnings for many of them. Scale symbol pops up about 3 miles before you get to it. Someone made a poi database for rest areas, they seem to have put a lot of work into it but I haven't tried it. Turnpike service plazas show up under fuel stops. And yes, you can search for truck stops nearest to your present location, along your entire route, near a certain city, or near your destination. Actually anywhere if you figure out the search features, they're pretty extensive. Too extensive in some cases as I keep getting results as far away as Russia and New Zealand.

Hey LSU, while the laptop may be good for some drivers like yourself, it isn't a solution for others. Also some of us delivery drivers dont have the luxury to sit for hours and plan our route, we can be dispatched with barley enough time to grab something to eat. Most of us are out for almost 14 hours, plus a hour doing paperwork at the terminal, and about a hour to get home. The job I do is also very physical, so the last thing I want to do is stare at a laptop. I want to shower and go to bed, so I can do it all over again. It may be a good idea for someone who is OTR and uses the same truck all the time, but doesn't cut the mustard in other situations.
Again, while your laptop may be good for some, its a poor choice for others.Last edited: Aug 27, 2009

Putting it in the jump seat wouldn't always work, because sometimes there is 2 of us in the daycab. With the stores I deliver to, having it on the dash doesnt work, I need all the visibility I can get when going into some of these "truck unfriendly lots".

google poi factory for many free poi's. I got Walmart,Pilot, Loves, reststops and quite a few others there.
