Everyone of my PC*Miler customers are very satisfied. The PC*Miler Nav's may not have all the bells & whistles ... but is is extremely reliable. And now with the PC*Miler Nav 450 and the FREE map updates till 2011 (and Lane Assist) the PC*Miler Nav 450 is a great value.

If you need more info ... feel free to PM me.

Mine is a lot better with the 5 or 6 updates I have installed, but there is a lot of room for improvement as it will show routes that are restricted when they aren't.
No GPS is a substitute for an atlas but I consider mine a very useful tool with it's quirks. I heard May Trucking won't even let a driver use GPS, is that true?

That is the $1 Million question.

To answer that is the "Ying and the Yang" of Life.

However, when asked that question by my customers, my answer is ...

    1) What type budget do you have?
    2) Do you drive both Canada & the USA?
    3) Is texting on your cell phone a "risky adventure" for you?

For a strong entry level GPS System ... the unit that hands down is the best value is the PC*Miler Nav 450 ... with the best Canada mapping, and now with Lane Assist ... besides FREE map updates, via the Internet, till atleast 2011.

For the unit offering the most "bells & whistles" and (if budget is not in the equation) then I recommend the Rand McNally TND 700 (provided that extensive Canada routing is not required)

And the BEST accessory for ANY GPS SYSTEM ... Common Sense !!

I've tested all of the available truck GPS units on the market. To date the two best ones I have used have been the PC*Miler and the Rand McNally TND 700 (which is my favorite).

That being said, none of them are perfect. At the company I drive for I am considered "the gadget guy" and many of our drivers consult me before buying a GPS, computer, or other gadget. The one thing I always tell a driver about a GPS is "A GPS is just a tool. You don't buy a hammer and expect it to build the house for you, don't buy a GPS and expect it to do your job for you".

I use any GPS as an information tool. I still make contact with customers for directions into a place. Just because the address is on a certain street that doesn't mean that is where trucks need to come in. Once I have good directions I compare those to the route on the GPS and make any needed adjustments.
