I just graduated and got my CDL. I pre-applied to about a dozen of the big OTR companies (who all supposedly hire just about anyone) but only heard back from a few.
I just called Crete to find out why I'd never heard from them and they said my school was not on their approved list. Does that mean my school is not approved at all?
Is there one national accreditation agency which publishes a complete list of approved schools or is it on a company by company basis?
Just discovered my school is not accredited or approved

Congratulations getting your CDL.Why don't you tell us what school you attended maybe somebody knows companies that do approves that school.
-
If you have a cdl why should it matter what school you went to. Only thing I can think of is if your under 21.
-
Steve how long ago did you apply to these companies?Sometimes it takes awhile depending how many applicants they receive.
-
I think it matters because students get reimbursed or has their schooling paid for if that company honors the school they attended.

Let us know where you are and what type work you're looking for . You said you heard from a few . What did the others say ?
-
Where do you live? If you completed CDL school, you will be hired. There are plenty of companies that will hire you. As some of the other posters said, how old are you & which city & state?

Steve, first of all congrats for graduating and getting your CDL! I also just got mine from a school in Omaha (Where Crete has a terminal) I called them and was told I needed a year OTR experience. I graduated with @93% GPA. Maybe that was why . IDK good luck and BE SAFE

Did you ever think of asking the school what carriers hired their graduates ? I never heard of a school that didn't get visits from carrier recruiters .

I was told by a couple of the mega carriers that the CDL course needs to be at least 160 hours. If yours was less...maybe a problem???? Hope it all works out for you though.
