Hi everyone, I'm new here, and from what I see, this is a great place for informaion, and feedback. Thanks !!
Anyhow, Here's my deal....
I've owned a HotShot company for a few years, and ran Dodge dually's with enclosed, and open car transports. With that I kept pretty clean log books, and frowned upn my employees doing different. One thing I couldn't do is ever log "Sleeper Berth" time, and therefore, not really familiar with how that comes into play, or the "splitting" of hours works with that.
I'm the pround new owner of a Peterbilt 387, and a Cottrell 9 car hauler, and would like your input on how to keep my logs correct.
Thank you.
Just gave up HotShot, and now I need a little help with a different way of Logging...

You can use the sleeper line instead of off duty.
You can keep it simple and only take a sleeper berth of 10 hrs straight.
There is the split berth method of 8 straight hours in the bunk then 2 later. -
Apparently I need to read even more than I have on this site. I see that the Sleeper Berth was explained in detail, confusing as it may be, but still it seems to be all there. I'll have to spend some time with that, and figure it all out from there.
See, You people have all the answers...... Just gotta look for'em -
Just because you log 2 hours in the sleeper does not make the statement you are split breaking. YOu can be in the sleeper for 2 hours during your 14 hour period. What you will still need to do is stop DRIVING by the end of the 14th hour.
Many drivers think if they log sleeper they are saying they are split breaking (unless a full 10) NOTTTTTTTT TRUEEEEEEE.
Driving PAST the 14th hour dot/me should look and say did you have proper split break possibly. We would look for either an 8 hour SLEEPER (mUST BE IN THE SLEEPER) OR A 2 HOUR BREAK (Can be a combination of lines 1 & 2 as long as it is 2 hours consecutive).
If you have any MORE questions on split breaking etc feel free to ask me, I hope my sheets helped you understand a little more
