I applied with companies before I started Roadmaster. Had plenty of pre-hires. You will have recruiters coming in frequently ( at least we did) and bring in lunch. Roadmaster may say "I think we should have you apply at this company" blah blah blah. They never forced me to sign up with any company. If you have a decent previous employment history YOU should be able to choose who YOU want to work for. Take some time and do your research on any company. Rome wasn't built in a day. good luck to you!

Thank you for the reply. Does it benefit me to have my Permit and or DOT physical before going to Roadmaster?
-
Yes, it will help you having your permit. Reason being that you have computer lessons that you must complete. If you have your permit, you can get those lessons out of the way while other students go take the permit test. I got my physical at Roadmaster. I think Roadmaster doc must do your physical. Check with your admissions rep. One way or the other, the dot physical will cost you. Now I am in Ohio and that's how it was for me. May be different for you if you are in another state as far as computer lessons and dor physical. If you have any other ? you can PM me...

I spoke with recruiter yesterday and he said I can get physical ahead of time as well. Looks like I should be starting in Fontana CA in abt 3 wks.

Be aware that they will make statements like "we will get the first company you work for to pay for your training and only if you do not get hired or you do not keep the job for a set amount of time, then you will owe for the training" then, they will see that you were hired, when you got hired, and will charge you BEFORE your start date and will not care if you are able to continue to be able to eat, etc because they will set you for very high payments before you even get your first paycheck and expect you to be able to make those payments while on training pay. Better to get as many loans as necessary from family/friends and pay up front than to go for Roadmaster's extortion loans.

I went in 2003, if you're not a quick learner they suck. It's a 3 week course, 1 week in class, 2nd week on the pad backing, maybe a little shifting, and 3rd week was on the road, but only Monday-Thursday and you test Friday. Your road days are in sessions, you'll get 2 per day at maybe an hour, so a total of 8 hours behind the wheel prior to testing, again if you're not a quick learner they suck.
This has been some years ago, I went when I was 19 and was given no placement assistance whatsoever because of my innability to run inTERstate, so I was completely on my own when I finished, although they did give me the option to opt out of the program and return when I was 21.
They will work with your on pre-hires, but it's obvious Werner, Covenant, and the other big hitters are their target market, if you read on here you'll know you can find better companies willing to take on students out of school.
In my opinion you'd be better to find a tech program. I caught on very quick and had a natural ability to drive a truck, but I will say it one more time, if you're not a quick learner THEY SUCK!
And PS, they're ridiculously overpriced at just a tad over 6 grand, I'm still paying off my loan some 9 years later -
These posts are most helpful. I drove a truck in Military and done great so I have experience. I'm also going to have my permit ahead of time. Does anyone know of a cheaper better school or trainer to get in the hrs required?

If you were in the military then find a school that will accept your g.I. bill
