Congrats! I received my pre-hire letter today from Steven's as well. From what I have heard, they are a good company. I too am applying to many carriers and then will decide what is best for me and the family. Good luck!!

Took a tour of the Denver school yesterday. Wow , it looks nothing like the school on their website. School is in very small suburb on the outskirts of Denver. Town of Keenesburg with a population of about 500 people. The classroom part will be in an old Pharmacy with the old ice cream counter intact. The driving range is about 4 miles away. Dirt track and a bunch of cones. This was still okay. Talked to a couple of the instructors and I got a good feeling about school after chatting for a while. I'm not afraid or intimidated , just wanted to know that I was going to receive good training before I leave. Can't wait to get started.

Just completed my first week of training at Stevens. There is so much to learn. Got my permit yesterday. Things are going well. The instructors are very informative and willing to help. Homework every night. Lots of bookwork to study. If you are planning to go to school , I will advise to go to the local DMV and get a handbook and study early. It will be very beneficial. I feel a little overwhelmed about the pre trip/ in cab inspections but I am getting the hang of it.

Welcome to Stevens and come on over to the Aviary... plenty of good info on the company from your fellow drivers... the good, the bad, and the ugly too. It is in the Stevens forum. Its a great place to get specific questions answered.

Wow , it has been a busy week for me. I feel that I have learned a lot. Learned how to double clutch the truck and have been driving around Denver. We started on back country roads and my instructor has taken me to Denver to practice in real traffic and streets. Making good turns around town was a bit scary at first but I embraced the challenge and am doing well. Going to drive in the mountains on Monday. Practicing my off-set backing and alley dock in the yard. Days are long ( ten hours a day ) but it makes me feel good that I am catching on . I do realize that I still have a lot to learn. I am not getting ####y. I am just a newbee. It's hard to believe that I test out next Thursday to get my license and then the real training begins with a trainer. We all have to start somewhere.

Just finished school today. I took my test and got my CDL A this afternoon. Heading out to Dallas tomorrow night. Ready to get my new career going. Lots to learn. I made two more investments this past week. I bought a laminated truckers atlas and a Blue Parrot Bluetooth headset.
