You are to be congratulated.
And there is something you don't see about TMC being so young and inexperienced. They are a quality outfit. But you are now in the big leagues here. Do your very best to cultivate good people relationships inside that company and they will value you.
I always had some respect for TMC because they appeared to run quality equiptment. But the last time I had with them, one was my number 4 in convoy one winter day west of knoxville last I saw of him was using power to maintain his straight angle to the trailer as the whole thing slid backwards into the median canyon. His skill in decision making, choices made and followed through as he fought to keep his load upright at any cost while the entire convoy suffered a series of losses on that curve that day always stuck with me. I never forgot him. And I think he was able to save his load and keep it intact which was one of the cardinal rules in trucking.
Just got job at TMC!

I actually didn't get to go out this week due to missouri not being able to pull my license until yesterday. I will go out with my trainer for the first time on Sunday late day. I've been sitting around my house bored to death. Feel like I'm going crazy! Honestly, can't wait to be out there.x1Heavy Thanks this. -

Rent.
Make sure your landlord understands you are a long haul trucker. For example if I took off three months from my place the land lord cannot touch it yet. Although they can start proceedings for eviction for unpaid rent the first month. If Im not around in 3 months it's considered abandoned and will be sealed and all contents disposed of.
I don't want to scare you but trucking is a unique situation and you should have eyes wide open. As soon you are able, buy a hovel or some place and a bit of land. Establish yourself. Even if it is a tiny house (Huge sleeper.. to you) on a acre or 5. Then build to suit when the gravy train rolls. -

Appreciate the advice x1. I'm covered at the moment. I'm giving them 2 months worth today. I should start seeing a paycheck, even the minimum 500/week well within that 2 months so I'll get that taken care of. Still have a single weeks pay coming from former gig.
And yes, owning my own thing is is a definite future plan. I'm pretty modest and don't need much.
It's all the others I'll be calling to hold out. Electric (maybe, it's a small place, low cost on electric), cable etc.
The most important bill after rent is the old cell phone so that'll be first in line. My car loan is also covered for 2 months. I came into this trying to cover the more important things.
I'm also lucky enough that I have a good relationship with my ex. She's local and does well for herself. And she knows a big part of me making this change is for our daughters future so she's on board and can help if absolutely needed. Although that'll be a last resort. A man has to hold on to at least a little pride!

My Ex is a former Marine Sgt, she knows the value of Buddy battle in teamwork. We work together on many things. But ours is uncommon, most ex's want to slice each other and backstab. But we managed to get past that. It makes for a interesting ... situation, but we do not live in sin. That's for sure.
I don't know if you built savings. I hope you did. Be ready to have a proviterabal bowl of chili in peace for 5 days food rather than feasting in the 5 pound steakhouse at armarillo.
You seem to be getting it together. That brings me happy because most people cannot even rig for battle properly not knowing what they are getting into.
