Just finished a 20 week CDL school for my class A. I had a 1 year medical card due to blood pressure prescriptions. My blood pressure is in check, but I’m worried due to only having a 1 year medical card companies won’t hire me. Being a new inexperienced driver I’m looking at mega carriers for my first year experience. Anyone ever been thru a situation where they were denied employment due to a 1 year medical card? Also I haven’t worked in 4 years because I was a stay at home parent but previously had employment for 15 years with a company from 2005-2020. Kids are in college now so decided to try something new and get back into the workforce

I've been getting a 1 year card for years and it has never been an issue with any company.

I got my CDL in 2022 and I've only ever had 1-year medical cards due to blood pressure as well. It has NEVER affected me negatively. You'll be fine, don't give it another thought.

You shouldn’t have any problems with the one year med certificate.

Your actual problem is going to be not having a work history for the last 4 years.
Your last 5 months can be documented and accepted as being in school. Before that, maybe another member can advise you.

I was told by a recruiter from Swift a while back that they look at your job history and call each number provided. If somebody answers the number and says you worked there, they check off their little box and move on to the next one without giving it any more thought.

well I have a employment verification letter and access code for the company I worked for from 2005-2020. Any potential employers can also verify it through the company employer website

Did you by chance do non-W2 work from 2020-present for a friend? Let's call him John Q for the sake of this question and his business John's Construction. Does John have a phone number? If Swift or another company called him at that number, would John say that you worked for him during that time? If so, you have verifiable work history for the last 4 years.
