Lifted people focus on that.. they change how they tell stories to focus on all the good. These people are more employable.... Remember that at your interviews.

Thanks again guys, I didn't mean to seem like I was shifting blame for my addiction, just try and explain a reason why. There's plenty of folks that go through worse then me and don't end up on drugs, I did. I put a needle in my arm, I got clean, I ####ed up and ended up that way again, now here I am starting over fresh. It's been a long road just to get where I am here. I guess I'm not as worries about gaps in employment as much as I am worried about what ex employers are going to say to me. That much I am powerless over. My meeting tonight was on the third step, turning our will and lives over to a god as we understand him. All I can do is fill out those applications and see what happens. If I am honest then worst case scenario they don't send me out to orientation. If I impose my will on things, lie or leave things out of the application, I might get to orientation sure, then get sent home embarrassed and discouraged. I'll be as honest as I can, the exact moths might be a bit off but I know where I worked for the most part.

Real estate I stopped going due to relapse, I can't imagine they'll have much good to say about me.
Uber i technically still work for, "self employed" I have great customers service records with them.
I worked for subway briefly this summer and was fired.
My friend owns a company and is going to say I've worked with her off and on to provide a decent referance there.

That's pretty much the last 4-5 years for me. Hope they take a chance.

If you bring up past problems with alcohol, drugs, homelessness, you won't be hired. All that is no ones business. The only reason to even mention any of that is if, deep down in your heart, you prefer not to work and enjoy being unemployed.

just awnser honestly to the questions they have about your past work experiences and focus on the future with the conversation. they just want to know that you are better for having made those mistakes and know not to repeat history in most cases. sometimes our greatest defeats lead to the greatest victories.

Thanks guys. I leave Monday for orientation. My recruiter didn't feel there was anything at all to worry about regarding my application, so fingers crossed orientation goes well.
