hi there, im trying to find out some info for newly class A drivers. my fiance is the one that just got out of school, he passed his class A. and hes ready to take the next step, which i believe is getting more training with a truck Co. then they hire u to work for them. is that correct. well my boyfriend and i live in Ca with our 2 kids. he was told to go with Watkins and Shepard Co. out of montana. he and a friend that he graduated with were planning on going together. so i have seen some reviews not on this site but the reviews for W&S werent good. but then ive seen some that are good. i was wondering if any of u have gone with them and were happy with them. he would love to get a local trucking job but his instructor told him thats really hard, u need to get at least 6mos experience before u can try to get a local truck driving job. so hes willing to go anywhere. but we wants to make sure hes going to a good truck company, especially beings that he just got out of school. so id love to hear what ya'll think, your oppinions, or weather theres a better place for him to check out. but, he is new so i know not all trucking companys want newbies that they have to train. thanks, hope to hear from ya'll. HAPPY TRUCKING.

now the truth of the matter is this, you (teresa) can go to 1,000 websites, hear 20,000 stories about 1 trucking company.....
everyone has a biotch/gripe about this or that. no one is ever satisfied...who to listen to then...??
probably NO ONE.......
he NEEDS to get a job ASAP because if he waits (say more than 60 to 90 days) before he decides "who to listen to", he may then be told by the trucking company mind you, "you have been out of a truck for too long, go back to school".....and THAT ain't no lie.......
tell him to go to that company, get it done..........forget about what you read or have read. every trucker or student is the "A-Typical" cry baby....
you just wait, you got 2 little ones now....??
you're about to have a 3rd in a few months....... -
I've heard good and bad about Watkins. I think the main reason a lot of new drivers go there is because they don't have trainers. I personally wouldn't recommend it for a new driver especially over the winter months but to each is to own. If you have some prior experience and or some mechanical ability and a little trucking background this may help for a company like this. Your husband needs to make himself a list of his wants and needs and try to find a company that best fits his particular situation. Like Rerun said though don't wait too long or they will make you take a refresher course. Good luck to you!

Get on wherever you can... but do enough research to avoid the really bad ones.
My opinion of Watkins is a new CDL driver, 10 days of orientation, then you're out on the road on your own is a dangerous mix - to the driver and everyone else on the road.
