Most of the people who show up here with an insanely high insurance quote are from the northeast though or a big city. If you are near Chicago and seeing high rates that's probably why.
Just got my first insurance quote, never thought it would be this high

First year was 23k, truck at 65k, owned trailer at 25k, non owned trailer at 40k
1mil general 100k cargo general, seafood and produce (reefer) unless a customer specifically asks for 200k cargo 100 is all you actually need
second year is down to 17k -
My first year with Progressive as a new authority with a 2015 tractor and trailer is around 15K and I thought that was a lot.
I live in Texas.Coffey Thanks this. -

Do you guys list seafood as a separate commodity on your insurance with Progressive? Or does that fall under food and beverages? I haul only about five loads in a year that contain seafood.
Progressive people give me misleading information. I was told that the seafood is included, that I don't have to list it as commodity. Even the agent who sold it the policy to me said I don't need it. Another agent took over, and she said I should add that on, adding a couple hundred $ to the new renewal. It seems they want to raise the premium as high as possible. But seafood isn't on the exclusion list when I looked the policy over. -
It’s listed on mine but being from MA it’s a large part of what I haul
some of it gets rather expensiveBeaver9 Thanks this. -
I know the first year is expensive, but 45k?!? You might want to shop around or wait a while.
My first year was about 25k, 4k up front and 1800 a month. Within a year, it dropped to like 15k, and goes down a little every year.
