Day laborer w/ CDL. What exactly are you talking about specifically. Getting on a job as a day laborer and looking for opportunities to drive? Or trying to get hired on as a CDL/day laborer position?

You didn't mention weekends home earlier in your thread.
Better take that DOT Foods job if that's what you want.

Your best chance to do that will be flatbed, but be prepared to do whatever you need to do in the short term to get what you want long term. See if Cypress has that option for you. If not, take what you can get for a year or two, and then with a little experience, you'll write your ticket.

Either one will get you experience and good hourly pay. You'll be on job sites so the opportunities are endless.

I honestly don’t know much about them other than seeing them a lot in Florida. From what I’ve seen the equipment doesn’t look all that great.

They run mostly Northeast, Southeast part of the country, but yeah, their trucks do sucks lol, slow as hell, governs at 65 MPH, slow to accelerate and other things. That's why I'm doing my year and move on if I can. But they're a decent starter company though, and if you're just want to drive and not a lot of things bother you, you can stay there, hell my trainer have been with them for over I think 20 years. Well he was with another company and they bought that company and he still stayed with them. So that's a decent summary on them.

If you're open to Flatbed, then Cypress would be a good starter company for you, right in your backyard in Jacksonville too, they can get you home on the weekends, my trainer lives in Jacksonville and he's home every weekend. That said, if having a driver facing camera won't bother you, they do have those... Other than that, shoot your shot, we have a LOT loads and, they're always hiring.

You do what you want @nextgentrucker but have you ever considered your trainer has been with cypress 20 plus because in reality it’s not a bad company? I’ve been at this game for 21 years, been with my current employer for 12, that don’t have the best rep in FL but they work for me, decent money, home a few nights a week and weekends. All I’m trying to say is you new guys are always chasing the next best thing, that next best thing might be right where you’re at if you’re patient and give it time, every time you leave you have to start over again. Just an old timer though, so my opinion gets overlooked regularly.

Spoke to a recruiter from Cypress, did the preliminary paperwork, then got a message yesterday they found someone "better qualified".
