Technically everything, but in practice mainly steel coils and RV/truck chassis or frame rails (the Midwest loads). You'll get the very rare oversize load if there's nothing else, then out west it's pipe, rebar, glass, lumber. Northeast is copper and aluminum. Some nice coast to coast (San Diego to NY) lift gate loads. Just off the top of my head.

Well, I would certainly want to wish you a warm welcome to the industry, I'm not as young and you tarp throwers, so I refuse to strap tarp haul ### and then wash and repeat, I'm in the Phoenix Az. area, I would check to see how much different a flight on southwest would be if you purchase it in advance, I know when I fly and I get to where I am going for Orientation I am rested and relaxed and ready to go into my next adventure! It may be about the same amount to purchase a air fare to fly into Phoenix rather then to ride with the criminals that ride the bus. With all of that being said.
You being a tow trucker who has been successful you will make it just right, you know that everything is not served to you on a silver platter. You will have to earn your stripes! You will be fine in this industry, and being in So. Cal. you can probably run the area and be home most nights just not right away! Welcome to the forum, Like you said before there are many that are cry babies and expect everything served to them. You will do fine~! -
First, you won't get home every Saturday or Sunday.
OTR means you will be out for several weeks before getting home. FB or not.
Swift requires at least 10 days notice for a home time request, and it must be at least 12 days from when you came back from the last one.
And even then, if you are out 5 weeks don't expect 5 days home.
That would mean you lose 1 entire paycheck for that month.
And you might even lose your truck and have to wait several more days to be assigned a new one - after cleaning out all your stuff from your old truck.
Take too many days off and they will tell you to clean out your truck. In some cases, that is as little as 2. -
Lol well thank you for the welcome Luvtotruck, and moose yeah I meant it as 1 day for every 7 worked meaning I will get home for a long weekend once a month. 28ish days out and 3-4 in..I was curious though I am thinking about selling my house down here in California, and moving up to Portland, OR area..Mostly for financial reasons..you can get alot more for 500k up there then I have down here.. Would living up there affect my trucking career? or does it not really matter where you live.

Swift FB won't work well for you in Portland unless you never want to go home. I think I've been through there once in 2 years. Look at COTC, Sherman bros, Combined, System...

If you do live in the northwest you can haul heavier loads more often, if your looking to do heavy haul in the future. By that I mean heavier than 105,500.
