I left the road a year ago this month, only do to my wife's health with her heart. Went to work local so I could be home with her. Been working for a relative in the coal industry, he deals with fitration and selling new and rebuilding old hyd valves to coal mines. He has been very successful till now, the "war on coal" seems to be winning. He is selling off delivery trucks and laying off salesmen. I told him to not worry about me, I have options unlike some of the others. Been thinking about maybe getting a truck and leasing on for a while somewhere then get my own authority later down the road. Been looking at a few trucks....wow, some doozies out there. Looked at a older Freightliner the other day which I remembered from back when I drove the 1984 Autocar at Machinery, I use to park beside that Freightliner back then. It would take 5K just to get the rear suspension in shape and put a good used 5th wheel on it. Getting ready to do an inframe on my Transtar anyway which I actually got to pull my antique tractors to shows, but told my wife I may even use it and try some local hauling.... Can you imagine the young guns when a 92 series Detroit pulls up beside them LOL. But anyways I been rolling things around in my head, Called about a older W900 with a Cummins 13spd. Truck runs and drives but has been setting around for a little while, nothing I can't fix but..... time might be an issue as well as expense. That is the main reason for my initial question about older trucks and what's still on the road. Appreciate everyone's feedback.

Keep looking. You may find an oldie and goodie. I just missed an anteater with a rebuilt 6nz. It had a bunch of other goodies on it. And it was cheap, cheap, cheap. Your thread may even help you.

95 KW W900L. 550 E model Cat. I was told around 2.5 million on the chassis. The guy I bought it from had pretty much went thru all the mechanicals on it. He wasn't planning on selling, until a friend of his wanted to sell his truck. I sold mine and bought this and he bought his friends truck. She's a solid old girl.
