    Greetings everyone.

I've been considering truck driving quite heavily now for a few months and today I made the decision to go ahead with it. I applied to Swift and Roehl, and am just wondering what my next step is. Should I be expecting a call from a recruiter? Should I call them? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks for reading!

My initial impression of the company has been great. I know I know, recruiters are paid to be your best friend, but they were friendly, professional, and prompt to respond to my inquiries.

I will keep this thread updated with my experience going through training, mentorship, and solo driving. The adventure starts Monday, June 25th, In Phoenix Arizona. Here we go!

Technically yes since Swift was the first call I received, however I did talk to Roehl and considered them as well. With Roehl, they had me get an affidavit signed by two non-relatives because I had a stretch of unemployment. It made me feel like a criminal and was off-putting. I know they are just looking out for themselves, but nonetheless it made an impression and I decided to go with Swift.

Swift required the affidavit for Fred too, rdnhpy. He was self-employed in residential construction for 25 years. You still may have to come up with something.

I strongly suggest what ever questions you may have for your recruiter to ask by email so you can have everything in writting. My recruiter sat on a throne of lies!

I should have been solo about 2 weeks ago, but I am not. I have another 10days or so left on this God forsaken truck. I kick myself everyday for choosing Swift. They were the 1st to call me..and I jumped like a idiot.

I am on mentor 3...he is a pig, the truck is nasty, and is causing serious health issues for me. I have asthma, and I am now using my inhaler 3x -4x a day...when I should only use it once. I asked my DM to get me on to another truck..and he has done nothing to help me! He does not return my calls. I have this all in text messages and emails to my hubby because if I collapse..Swift will pay dearly.

Sorry if I seem a tad bit bitter.... but this company, in my opinion is pretty messed up.

I do hope things work out for you =)

Yeah.. it has been heinous to say the least. However, there are good mentors out there..and there are a lot of positive stories too.
I am sure you will be fine =) Do keep me posted.
