my wife says she wouldn't live in the west side of the state (ND) but she likes Bismarck, ND I live in Colorado Springs CO and I see Billboards up by Greeley CO looking for drivers. I make 19.15 hour now (guaranteed 40 hours) usually 5 to 6 hours overtime. I also have 3 days off each week. (union job)Health insurance cost me 144.00 month. My job has labor and driving. I wouldn't mind working 6 days a week if I could net around 1,400 a week and have insurance. my other plan would be to save my cash up and put money down on truck. maybe a daycab and then operate under someone's authority.

I guess it is still off to the Bakken with me. Might see about moving south once I get some oil field experience.

I had it broke down for me and it looks like it is a real possibility if one is willing to put in the time.

I think we need to hear more about whether these situations are common, versus whether they're possible.

Well, I will tell you all what. Once I get going, I will post here about the truth of the matter. If it is all bs, I will post it. If it is true, possible or common, I will let you know. Stay tuned!

Its possible but there are a lot of factors that play into it. Your hourly wage, what you are hauling, availability of work, area you are, etc.

the days of $100,000 a year boom is over for rookies.. too many people wanting jobs, for the available jobs... and many of those jobs require certifications, endorsements, and experience. Those with experience can still make that type of money.

The question is (and I suppose it's the million dollar question), Will the high paying jobs still be there when the rookies gain some experience?

    Smakman,

You have the right mindset. You will go far here. I am the owner of a Crude Oil transport company and I wish I could find more individuals like you. You are absolutely correct about the WORK being your life here. Best wishes.
