It's my understanding that MacroPoint will still be used BUT if you have a GPS/ELD solution in use, they want access to that. I don't really have an issue with MacroPoint, just delete it when you're done, but this intrusive "Telematics/GPS Integration" is pure BS.

GPS is easily spoofable on phones. Just turn on mock locations and you can let them know their load is on Guam.

Get a 7" tablet that stays with your truck. Any apps they want you to install, go on the tablet, not your personal phone.

And as far as access to a Qualcom or PeopleNet... they've been doing that for years.

I don't care if their LOAD is tracked...their freight, their choice. I'm a local guy, though, so I go home at night and every weekend. My personal whereabouts do not need to be tracked, as they have absolutely nothing to do with the location of their freight. If tracking your freight is so important, invest in some tracking devices and we'll put one in with the load. I have no issues with that. I just don't want to be fielding phone calls because I'm "out of route" or heading the wrong way when I'm heading out with the wife to ride horses, go to the rodeo or state fair, or anywhere else we might be heading while off the clock. And yeah, I did that macro-point once, and they got ticked off when I stopped the tracking when I arrived home and parked the truck. So, since they don't want to let me pause tracking when I'm off the clock, they don't get to track me at all. Track the freight, not me. Period.

I like how they call you every 2 hours even though they are using MacroPoint. I don't use it anymore. I just tell them all I got is a flip phone.

This would not be necessary if the quality of company's and drivers hadn't be spiraling down for the last 20 years.
