What about the photos and/or videos my wife sends me?...My personal text messages?...Why not submit to urine and hair samples every time we're stopped or inspected?...

You don't give up liberties and freedoms in the name of "I have nothing to hide", but that's how they're taken...

Seriously, drivers need to know about and understand what they are legally obligated to accept and what they can and should refuse. ANY authority wishes to see ANYTHING of mine that is personal, or ask questions of a nature that are not relevant (such as the MN "fatigue survey"), they are more than welcome... with a court order.

For some real fun, tell them you have your phone with you, but you are using it to record the inspection.

 

They'll have to shoot me. I will not turn over my phone for anything short of a full accident investigation. You will not get access to my email, you will not get access to my forum accounts, you will not get access to my bank accounts. I will toss it in traffic and you can have fun picking up the pieces. I have electronic logs, knock yourself out looking through them. My phone is personal property.

Because if you pull off on to the ramp and do not get out of the truck, the duty status does not change and the text can be checked.

They can ask all they want, but there is no way a personal phone can be required to be presented unless they have a VALID search warrant.

 

Because typically they do nothing worth a ####! Shocking they would actually stand up for something worth standing up for instead of just protecting some douchebags interest.

After working for lots of lawyers, I pretty much hate every move the ACLU makes... in fact, when I hear that the ACLU is getting involved in something, I get sick to my stomach... some whiny arse person might be offended over something, so let's sue the mom and pop restaurant with some million dollar lawyers because "Ray Ray's Soul Food" doesn't also offer Hispanic dishes.

With that said, I dont think we should be so free to give up any rights, just because we have nothing to hide. That's the whole point of personal privacy.. that you don't have the right to question me on anything unless I've already committed an offense.
