As a flatbed is rolling across the scale platform I notice:
    • about half the required straps are missing
    • what straps are there are loose or cut almost in half
    • left front trailer axle brake cammed over - lining not even close to drum
    • several tires with very little tread - one running on the steel belts
    • brake lights not working on trailer
I asked he driver (real sunny disposition - :biggrin_25513::biggrin_25516:) if he actually did a PTI like it showed in his log book. (within 1 hr of when I stopped him, bright daylight)

He swore (literally) that he ALWAYS does a pre-trip, and everything was fine when he looked at it. He did not understand why I would not let him go on down the road until some things were fixed!

Maybe he did a PTI of another unit and not the one he was in care and control of! :biggrin_2552:

You need to be more specific scalemaster.

Yeah. Walkin by the truck next to yours in the truck stop and wishing yours was in that good of shape is not a PTI. LOL

He prolly kicked the tires - they didn't go flat when kicked, and the load hasn't fallen off yet. Yup, PTI done occifer!

If you would stop parking next to KW's you wouldn't feel so bad about driving that Pete.

I stopped this little F450 with a trailer yesterday morning and contact the driver. Immediately I recognize him from another stop when he was OTR trucker. I also remember having him in court two months ago with a lot of issues. Go back and check his record, he was suspended in my State for failing to pay the fines associated after being found guilty and he was suspended in another State for the same thing. I had placed him out of service in March for being suspended in the other State, which he was now violating that out of service order. Currently in my State, which is his State of issuance for his CDL, he has 10 current suspensions. A week earlier he was stopped and cited by another officer for driving while suspended. He just couldn't understand why he was arrested and carried to jail to post bond. :biggrin_25524:
