Thats the relay I'm talking about.
Its interstate freight even if the drivers don't cross state lines.
Just some of the stupid things I see

Which is why I often get differing interpretations from different LEO's. Sometimes you get a
or a
,sometimes you get a
or a
from asking the same question to different authorities. It sure can be confusing.

Alaska and Hawaii not included, Canada and Mexico optional.Black_379, Hammer166, lostNfound and 1 other person Thank this. -
I got so frustrated back in 02/03 when I was trying to get a trucking endevour lined up. You could line up 10 DOT cops in a row and ask them the same identically worded questions and get 10 VERY different answers.
Which one do you listen to?
Because no matter who you listen to there are 9 others waiting to write a big money ticket for not doing it right.
It was frustrating to the extreme.
Its no wonder some folks just say flux it and roll with out.07-379Pete Thanks this. -
Back when the states were allowed to enforce their PUC regulations in intrastate shipments, the continuation of an interstate shipment, like chemicals brought in by rail or tanker, was how you hauled intrastate with out state PUC authority as you were the final 'leg' of a trip that started in another state...
It is all de-regulated now but it was an important distinction before the DOT shut down the intrastate authority limitations. -
Hey DB/SM I got one for ya, not exactly DOT, but here goes. Dallas has jumped on the anti idle bandwagon, but they have a clear exemption for when on mandatory rest stop. City marshall wakes me up, writes out ticket, tells me of exemption and hands me a brochure that states this exemption among others, but both officer and brochure are vague about how to claim the exemption. E-mail city hall and they say get a lawyer or appear in court.....wtf? Shouldn't an exemption be by nature non-discretionary? How can it be legal to lull drivers into a false sense of security with promise of an exemption, then wake them up, restart their 10 hrs, and put the burden of proof on the driver? It's gotta be some kind of thinly veiled racket, when they tell you the only options are to pay the $500 fine, or lose $1,000's hiring an attourney/taking weeks off of work to represent yourself. An exemption should be automatic with presentation of documents?
Tazz Thanks this. -
Your off duty and some one wakes you up, will not put you on duty. Your still off duty just not sleeping. No need to restart your 10 from zero again.
