It is easy to get a case of "tunnel vision," particularly when you have done the same thing hundreds of times without a problem. It is also easy to get that "tunnel vision," in a high stress situation. And cops are human too, they are subject to the same distractions that we all are.
I've certainly made my share of stupid, dangerous and sometimes down right embarrassing mistakes. . .![]()
Just some of the stupid things I see

Had another false log today that just rings of stupidity. I stopped a driver, good size company, 300-400 trucks nationwide. Get all the information, license, log registration etc. I ask for his receipts, fuel, tolls etc. He hands me a few receipts out of the compartment above driver's seat that has a see through net. Well I see numerous other receipts still in the pocket. I ask to see them. At this point the driver starts to spark knock, stutter and uncontrollable shake. I ask him, so your log is correct and not a lie. "Oh no sir, my log is exactly what I did" It seems my driver logged his 34 hour reset this past tuesday and wednesday in Georgia. However there were toll receipts from Pennsylvania on the turnpike on both days, 4 fuel receipts that he signed and bill of lading that loaded on the 9th and unloaded on the 11th in connecticutt. But the log book totally omitted this trip in it's entirely. Just crazy to do stuff like this, no wonder the feds came up with 2010.

They must have started giving our great politicians CDL licenses!

Politicians already have their own version of the CDL....
It's called the Constantly Deceptive Liars card.
But by the looks of a few elections the last few weeks, many incumbents should be hitting the unemployment line come the end of the year.outerspacehillbilly and Iceman_biker Thank this. -
I got stopped for speeding in my stick wagon, 73/55, I was running empty, going to get a load. The Deputy was right on my tail, I saw a place to pull over and hit the brakes and turned. Oops, he informed me he almost rear ended me because my trailer brake lights weren't working. I got a ticket, and got to give him a little jab about tailgating. LMAO

Let me ask you DB, What would you do if you ask a driver for his fuel, toll, scale recites and he said he had none. I ask cause I have none, ever. Fuel is done electronically off the card. I never sign a thing and don't get copies. Tolls are done with a little blue box on the window. We have air scales on both the tractors and trailers and I never weight any thing under 44,000. 1 out of 100 loads maybe. As soon as my load delivers I scan it and mail my copy home. The only paper work I have is the BOL from the trip I'm on.
JustSonny Thanks this. -
And what a sealed trip pack?JustSonny Thanks this.

I am in the same boat as you. I never have any paperwork except for the current trip I'm on. Whenever I have been "checked" and asked for such items I simply tell them I have none. I have been given the, "driver don't give me that, I know you have a few receipts" a few times but when I tell them no sir if you need such items you'll have to contact my company to get the electronic copies as I have none. Never had any issues after that response.JustSonny, teddy_bear6506 and dieselbear Thank this.
