well that was very informative. 98ish % of 223 pages read!! In two days no less. Can ya tell I'm itching to get to orientation?:yes2557:

Derails were sometimes helpful and when they werent they made me laugh (mostly).

    What I have determined.....

Everyone has a job to do. Those that do it to the best of their ability, doing the next right thing, have no real need to worry about the OP doing HIS job.

Ths thread also makes me think I made the right choice in prospective employers.

Industry in a state of change, not all used to or accepting of said change. Will be easier on us noobs to "adapt" to this change sonce we know no other way.

Thanks DB and all who contributed.

Its standard procedure for shippers to request authorities and insurance from new trucking companies they hire.
It used to be the final step in the process, now its one of the initial requirements when I contact a shipper for new work for our trucks.
    Another sign of the times.

You are right as far as your last sentence goes. No question about it. Some people really do have mental problems, particularly when it comes to doing things the right way.

"AIN'T NOBODY GONNA TELL ME WHAT TO DO," is a common theme with these folks. And it actually can be about their worst blind spot. Otherwise, they can show a certain level of intelligence. . .:biggrin_25513:

Let me ask this question to the forum. What distance do you consider as a maximum for "personal conveyance"?

O/O - I would say however far it took

Im a company hand and most companies not really clear on this,we are on ELOGS so actual "Line#5 Off Duty Driving is only one hour,,,
I would say whatever a company policy is as long as you have 11-14-70 to back it up
disclaimer: I really dont use that option,

Let's see what others think. Had a driver today come up with a "personal conveyance."

Also, some companies don't allow personal conveyance like we do. I have used the personal conveyance going to a truckstop (farthest so far is 10 miles). However, even when I drove home I did it as line 3. If I am looking at the information correctly I am dispatched to home. I may be wrong but I think we're paid those miles (ECU can correct me I am still learning), so to me that says on duty.

Here at Schneider, company drivers don't even have line 5....it's only for the L/Os and O/Os.
