This single passage, more than any other in this entire thread, sums up not only this industry, but life in general.

You don't like the rules? Make the proper efforts to change 'em.

The 5th amendment only applies to oral statements. Sorry, try again.

Extortion? What am I extorting from you? I collect no money. If I issue you a citation all the fines go to the schools. The only thing I want from you is compliance.

Selective enforcement. OK. I only enforce CMV laws on CMV's. That is my job and the scope of my authority. Now, if you are saying I only enforce some CMV regulations on some people, I think you are going to have to help me there. I am not aware of which CMV regs I do not enforce on which people.

It is because of folks like you who practice "selective compliance" that I have job security.

How about this, rolling down the road coming up to a weigh station that's open. I don't have. I prepass and I dont even thing this scales even set up for it. It's open so I pull in theirs a truck ahead I wait my turn. Get on the scale and get the red light to stop. Wait onthe scale till I hear over intercom " driver pull truck in back and bring in log, Bol, permits and reg. Walk in with all my info and he gets right to work, checking everything down his list. He's doing a level 2 inspection driver/walk around. I ask if he can just do a full blown inspection since he's doing a level 2 just get a creeper and check brakes, suspension components. Tells me no because he doesn't feel like it. It's a beautifull day out side plus truck just got washed and under cairrige degreased so I ask him again. Tells me quit annoying him with that cause he doesn't feel like it. I ask him then so next time I see your scale open if I dont feel like pulling in I don't have to? His response, you have to pull in if it's open or you can get a ticket. I ask why should I pull in if you don't even feel like stepping out and doing your job, instead just sit inside. Tells me that's his decision what to do not me. Well ended in a clean bill of health and no stickers. Waste of 30 min, if I would of got my stickers after a passing vehicle inspection I wouldn't of thought that was a waste of time. If he wants to make sure everyone is safe and compliant then y'all should check more then paper work. Do a full blown inspection every time unless it's on the side of the highways. Still see many super troopers doing this like they can't find a safe area to pull of the main highway. Do your job all the time not just when ever you feel like it cause maybe well just feel like pulling in when we feel like it.

The driver does not HAVE to show you anything on his E-logs,, YOU are REQUIRED to requisition his company directly for any and all information on the computer system in his truck,,IF you require them to show you it,, then YOU are liable for arrest from a US Marshal.

AHHH, but you may have forgotten and I quote " The Color OF Law", which governs violations of our amendments,, such as and I quote,, the 4th and the 14th.,, which can entitle YOU to a minimum of 1 year imprisonment.

whats with the attacks on scalemaster and DB lately??? they are here to help us and amuse us with the stupid things drivers and companies do....

if your logging legally, and your truck is squared away there should not be a problem...,
ohh by the way...US Marshall service has no authority here...they are basically court enforcement agents, fugitive recovery and prisoner transport...

I beg to differ with you on the fact that the US Marshals have no authority here,, point in case,, they have the authority and are required to investigate any and all complaints of false violations, violations of the "Color Of Law" ,, and are able to immediately take into custody any and all state, federal officers making such violations.

Also I am pretty sure they are as tired of the changing Regs as we are...they don't make the rules and regs...thats the DOTs (specifically FMCSA) fault the rules are changing constantly...if you want to do something about them, call your congressman and senator... and excercise your right to vote....

Not trying to get political...but the crackdown on Regs and CSA 2010 all came into effect during the current admin...if we want things changed we need to start voting like americans...if you can't make it in November get an absentee ballot and vote.....

plus if some of yall complainers would spend as much time Pretripping, and repairing your rigs, and run legal your problems would start disappearing.....but because some people want to be knuckleheads and play outlaw it makes it harder on drivers like myself who run legal and try to keep equipment in good working order...
I will go with you on there are some enforcement officers out there that think they are billy ###### and all tacticool.....but in reality most of them are not bad people, they are just doing their job like everyone else...
yeah it sucks that headlights burn out while rolling down the road and we can get a ticket for it.... I got called into a scale in Florida once cause my headlight was out...the inspector looked at my log and seen I did a pretrip and he was okay with me replacing the light on the spot...didn't even give me a ticket..just a friendly wave......and have a nice day.....but I think it was due to I didn't carry on like an idiot and treated him like a human ####### being.....

May have come into effect now, but as usual it took many long years to make them.
