When I first read this, I thought oh no my little bro got caught.:biggrin_2556: Read it again and seen you said Iowa... Whew:smt079 He wasn't coming back through Iowa. Yep, he's one of those RW types, outlaw truckers. He does it legal most of the time, but.. sometimes I guess he just does what he's gotta do.

Ya' know I guess most of the time it's the little bro looking up to the bigger one. However in my case it's the other way around. Just in the short time I've climbed into his profession, I really look up and respect him. What this man's been through in the last 5 yrs, would be enough to put most of us in the nuthouse.

Still here, just been gone several weeks doing some training.

Kind of quiet this week, not a lot of real stupid folks.

One guy had a placarded load of HM, flammable, smoking a cig as I stepped up on the running board. I guess he qualifies.

Same guy put out of service for being over hours on his log. Put him out in the lot for at least 8 hrs sleeper. Came in after 7 hrs arguing that his time started at the time I stopped him. I could not get him to understand that his 8 hrs sleeper started when he got IN THE SLEEPER!

Lots of folks scamming/abusing the "personal conveyance" exception. They keep that up and FMCSA will take it away.

Let me ask you this if I may...
I have a Jeep that we take to various off road parks in Mo and Ar.
I made a receiver for my truck to be able to pull my car trailer, along with being able to pull stuff of my RGN when needed.
I have the trailer socket, so the trailer has all lights etc working, but no brake controller as that is a total waste when looking at the brakes on the tractor IMO!
If the Jeep is strapped down securely, trailer is registered, and so on, do I have to log that time to and from the off road park?
It's my own rig, leased to a company if that makes a difference.
So far I have logged it when I have hauled the Jeep, just to cover my rear. But do I have to or not?
    Thanks!

    Martin

As long as you aren't entering competitions to win money, you're outside the rules of interstate commerce, since there isn't any going on.

As Kaljidono said, as long as you are not in competition motorsports, and competing for prizes, you would not be "in commerce" and the Federal commercial regs would not apply.

well, if he'd blown himself up,, I wonder how many ppl he'd have taken with him.

Correct me if I'm wrong,, but I thought you couldn't smoke even in your cab while carry such loads.

Oh, and as for the "sleeper part",, I'm wondering what part of 8 hrs in the "SLEEPER" he didn't comprehend ,,,lol
