Not really end of the road, sounds like it was an Owner Op that cared about his equipment and how he was viewed on the road.
I am a company driver, and my company will not pay for washes, though we have auto wash bays in our terminals, for the little they clean.
I try to get a good hand wash once a month on my own buck. I think that if a driver feels good about what he is driving and what he is doing, he will be more professional on the road.
Maybe I am just fooling myself with that. But I have explained it to some company drivers before and seen them later after they tried it. And all felt better about their jobs after they started keeping the trucks clean.
40 bucks a month is not allot to spend on a piece of equipment that is making me my pay.
Just some of the stupid things I see

I have to agree with ChromeDome here...I keep my truck immaculate inside and out and I keep it in perfect mechanical condition.
Not because I have anything to hide but because of another thing that many here don't seem to understand.
Pride of ownership and a desire to "Do it right."
I've always kept my equipment clean, neat and squared away because I like things that way and I don't like to worry about what might turn up during an inspection.
I get my truck inspected in the shop every time I have it serviced and I get under it every day and check things out.
Peace of mind is a good thing!goldwing daddy and Working Class Patriot Thank this. -
Chrome you were right, a good ol boy that was an owner op. To be honest I usually don't inspect "clean" looking trucks unless they are speeding or something draws my attention form their driving. I've found it to be a waste of my time, when there is so many that beg for my attention. The other day I was just at random stopping who come down the road, and the clean one just happended to be there.
HEAVY DUDE Thanks this. -

On the issue of carrying the long form, Ive never even seen one of mine. It always goes to the company and they keep it on file.

I received another Level 3 last night at the Plymouth, P.O.E.
Everything was in order.....Hmmm...3 in three weeks....what gives?
Are the DOT lonely or is it because my rig, my logs, and my record are clean?..... -
Your Safestat score may have been jacked up on the last run.
When they do not have enough inspection info they will raise it up into the 90's till they get some inspections. Then make a new score with that info in the system on the next run. It will be cleared up next month if that is the issue.
Go into safestat and check your ISS recommendation number.Working Class Patriot Thanks this. -
I try to keep my truck clean even though it is a POS company truck. Fortunately they pay for Blue Beacon. I just have a hard time finding the time with the way we run. -
