Hey dieselbear, been enjoying your thread. Got a little story that I hope you find funny, sort of the other side of the coin story.
I'm in the tandem axle dump truck I drive, going to a job a little ways off a 4 lane highway. I see a Georgia DOT car behind me. The way he's following me I know he's looking and probably going to pull me over.(I'm legal) So I drive along waiting, no blue lights. Get into a little town where I have to make a left at a redlight. I get into the turn lane, the light is red, stop. I'm looking for him and he's gone! Did I miss him when he did a flip? no place for that, no place for him to have turned. The light turns green and as I turn, there he is right under my spreader lip so close I couldn't see him, with his blue lights on now.
What do I do now? Can't stop in the middle of the intersection. The little street I'm turning on is kinda busy, can't really stop there, so I put on my 4-ways and drive slowly to the jobsite where there is some room.
We get stopped in the street and I go back to meet him. He a young guy, I mean really young. He wants to weight me, but not in the street. I point out a dirt pad but he doesn't like that either. I'm being cheerful, friendly and helpful, pointing out places he might could weight me. Finally he tells me just to go on. I tell him I'll be hauling there all day and if he'll just wait about 30 minutes he can weight me on my way back. He gets the oddest look on his face and says no it'll be ok.
I wasn't trying to be a smart### or condescending, the situation struck my funny bone so I had some fun with it.

Heh...When I ran my dump biz I got pulled over in the middle of the desert in Palmdale by a CHP officer....He pulled me over because I didn't "tarp my load"....

Now mind you....it was after 2 pm...and if you know anything about the high desert....The wind kicks up after 2 pm....blowing dust and sand everywhere.....

I asked why I needed the tarp anyway....his response was "Dust Control"....I'm looking around at the sand blowing everywhere and told him "You can't can't be serious".....He said he was and asked what my load was..... I said "Air...a whole load of it.....Does it need to be tarped?"

He just looked at me like I was the biggest azzhat on two legs...

Some troopers have no sense of humor......:biggrin_25523:

i can see making a living @10 on 12 off leag if you got paid around 50+cents per mile as a company driver.the fact is most if not all companies make sure you as a driver makes as little as possible.being that most dispatchers are piss poor at their job means at 10hr's you might be able to drive 350 to 400 miles.but then you have to sit at a dock for hours a day.so you might be lucky if ya get 2k miles a week that way.you might be lucky to bring home 400 to 500 a week that way.hardly worth the effort i'd say.heck you can make 800+ a week local.a burger joint pays better than that if you make low lvl mgr.i say if a driver does'nt make around 1k a week it's just not worth it.unless your single and have no bills then it's perfect.

I'd have stopped as soon as I made the left turn.

IT IS THEIR JOB to make sure the place they are pulling you over is safe from traffic.
Not yours to worry about if the road is too busy.

Let the public hate him for blocking traffic.

    But thats just me.
