I have no problem with the mandatory EOBR's provided
- All NAFTA rigs have to have them......Or don't run in the US period....Hear that CANCAR?
- Shippers and receivers have to understand the clock is ticking...and they can't wait until there's an hour left on the clock before they load/unload.....
I see EOBR's and CSA 2010 as Accountability and Equability for everyone involved....
I still hear of drivers shooting off at the mouth and brag they always run 18 hours......"How else I'm I gonna make any money?" is the answer you get when you ask why......
I suppose those drivers shouldn't complain about the NAFTA drivers because both...Run illegal to make a buck.....
Just some of the stupid things I see

Had one that made me shake my head today. I was near one of our scale facilities and saw a big truck bypassing the scale. So I stop this fella and low and behold his log book is about 8 hours behind, showing him in a town about 7.5 hours from where i stopped him. One problem, he was at his 11 and 14th hour already, before he drove the 7.5 hours to me. He didn't want to enter the scale because he was at his 21st hour on duty without a rest period. So I tell him show me your last change of duty status and catch up your book. I was intending on a citation for the 14 hour violation and a warning for the not current, 11 hr violation and bypassing the scale. This driver did the stupidist thing I have seen in a while. He shows a 10 hour break in a town 7 hours from where I stopped him, including at the time I stopped him. He then shows the 7.5 hours to drive to me and flags the time showing DOT inspection. One problem, he was stopped at 0600 hours, but his log shows him in the sleeper then, and being stopped by me at 1330 hours. I asked him, what the heck is this. "well I can't log it legal, so I showed my 10 hour break and then my drive time here." I asked " What the heck are you thinking? Driver says, "well you said you wanted it to show what I did" . You're right driver, I WANTED TO SHOW ME HOW YOU GOT HERE AT THIS TIME, NOT SHOW ME HOW TO LOG THE TRIP LEGAL, BECAUSE RIGHT NOW YOU ARE NO WHERE NEAR LEGAL. YOU'VE BEEN DRIVING FOR ALMOST 19 HOURS, AND YOU SHOW ME THIS BS.
Bad thing, this guy was not a rookie. Been driving about 14 years. Some things make me shake my head. -
Did you cite him for falsification? You should have!

DB.....How come Fox Reality hasn't given you your show yet?

I'm not going to jump to that driver's defense.... Nor am I going to defend his actions, cause anyone who has driven for any amount of time has run the hours that this driver has, including myself.
But blowing a scale is clear stupidity. If he would have just rolled across the scale. Chances are he would have continued down the highway with no problems...dieselbear and Big Don Thank this. -
Why would a driver run 21 hours Redd?...What good is the money you might make if you run off the road?
In an other life....I use to chase pipeline leaks and go on power outages......Work 36 hours straight on those outages....On the leaks....we were "safety conscious"...we only worked 18 hour days.....But not running 80K down the highway though..... -
Big Don Thanks this.

Well at least he had a "fuzzy" someone bring him coffee and doughnuts when it was time to hit the road! Right DB?outerspacehillbilly Thanks this. -
I've only been shut down once. We were still on the 10/8/15 hours. ####, maybe 2002? Anyhow I was a company driver. Picked a load in Taxarkana, TX on a Tuesday afternoon & was told to be empty Friday. 3 drop load of coils. 2 drops in Portland, OR & the final in Auburn, WA.
Thursday afternoon I had both Portland drops off & headed north into Washington. 1st WA scale I rolled across fine and dandy! I only had 13,000 pounds left on my truck. No need for them to be looking at me. I'm gonna make my final Thursday afternoon & then I'm going to bed so I can call in Friday morning empty.
Second WA scale (just south of Tacoma) Stopped me as I thought I was free & clear.... Only axle left on the scale was my rear spread. Random log check! ####!!!!
DOT officer took my log, told me to park & walk into the office. First thing he said was to get my log updated.... So I did. He calculated my hours & not only was I beyond the 10. I was well beyond the 15 & was pushing my 70 within a few hours.
Mr. officer told me "Driver! Do you see where you fueled in Twin Falls, ID? You should have never left there. You were at your 10 at that point."
I already knew that.... That is why I fueled at that time. Hoping I wouldn't get nailed & could make it "LOOK" legal later. Ofcourse, I kept that thought to myself.
I think I paid a $186.00 log violation ticket & was shut down for 8 hours. I only had 20 miles left to go before I finaled. I did "attempt" to talk the officer into allowing me to go deliver, since I had planned to shut down afterwards.... But he wasn't buying it. And I don't blame him either. Cause it would have been his backside if I screwed up & killed someone.
I was scared ########.... I have made it a point to not get shut down since...
So back to the answer.... GREED is the only logical answer I can thing of.Working Class Patriot Thanks this.
