I hate to say it because I have to agree with the law! Jerks like this make CSA2010 necessary! I wish I could have been there with you DB, I would've loved to hear this idiot's story. What was he thinking? You would think after the 1st ticket, he would have cooled his jets for a little. Guys like that give us a bad name!!!
Just some of the stupid things I see

Dave,
He didn't have much to say, but his non verbal responses still make me laugh. When he realized what he had done with the log and the oh sheet look he gave was absolutely priceless. -
Well I had thought I had heard it all when it came to log books and why someone would falsify their book. But yesterday took the cake. It was such a story and a first for me, I didn't even write the fella a ticket. Seems the driver I stopped yesterday from Texas, thought it would be a great idea to take his "logged off duty" at a truck stop about 15 miles from where I stopped him for running over 75 mph. However when I looked at his log and receipts, they were no where near being close. His one fuel stop had a phone number, date and time as he had a cash register receipt mixed in with his other fuel stops, tolls and miscellaneous receipts in his trip pack. Well the fuel receipt showed him driving right in the middle of his "off duty" time. Long story short after questioning him, calling the fuel stop and the attendant even told me the clothes he was wearing as he is a regular there and they had sat there a B.S.'d for 30 minutes earlier in the day. It turns out this fella had been at a strip joint for 6 hours while he logged "off duty" which I have no problem with, but then he had to haul arse to make his delivery time. He didn't want to tell me nothing about the strip club, because he was married with 4 kids at home and his wife was the carrier. So he couldn't log where he was out of fear of what his ol lady would do. I asked him why he stayed so long? He didn't have much to say about that, but he did state that he dropped over $250 in there. I didn't have the heart to write him a citation for the false log, because he was 2 States away at a truck stop according to his log book. First time I had heard that excuse.

Dieselbear, I wish you pulled me over when I got my very first and only speeding, over 11hrs and 14hrs.
I got a speeding ticket doing 69 in a 65 zone on I70 mile marker 135. After I pulled over there was a knock on my passanger door. I opened it and a very young officer who asked me how fast was my speed and where I was coming from and heading to. I explained to him 67Mph, coming from Laredo Tx and heading to Toronto On. I was getting off at exit 149 to take my 10.
He asked if I had a problem if he entered my cab, I had no problems with his request.
He then asked for all of my papers. I handed him 2 binders and away he went.
1 Hour passed and another trooper pulled behind him. After 30 minutes the young officer appeared at my door with my 2 binders and a few tickets. 1 ticket for speeding 4 Mph over the speed limit and the other two for being 45 minutes over 11hrs and 45 min over the 14 hr rule.
I stated to him that that was impossible I had 15 minutes to go on my logs. I asked him to explain these to me. My problem was time zone change; my clock in the truck does not change however on my cell it does. He even showed me the mistake I made, where I drew the line then scribbled over it. He explained to me that these happens a lot with Ontario drivers.
At this time he explained to me that he will follow me to the next exit and he will give me back all of my info. When I got to the station he gave all of my documents back with the tickets.
I looked at him and said, you can see my CVOR record is clean, I made an honest mistake and there is no way to give me a break. He explained to me that I'm a professional driver and should not make mistakes.
As I was looking at the ticket I noticed that my birth date was wrong. I smiled shook his hand and said good night. He had a puzzled looked and asked what was wrong. I explained to him that there was a mistake on my ticket, however he is a professional and he does not make mistakes.
These is where his attitude changed. He said to me " Hey you, it does not matter what mistake I made on the ticket I'm the law".
I turned around and explained to him that manners go a long way. It's "excuse me sir, not hey you". This is where he told me I'm just a truck driver. I lost all respect for this Officer and the uniform he represents. The Challenger, dieselbear, Lurchgs and 4 others Thank this. -
