Just when I think I have seen it all. Stopped a guy last week for speeding. Then I catch a whiff of booze. Pull him out to check him and he's blitzed. Search the truck, 1/5 of Jack Daniels and plenty of soda to mix with it. Take the driver for a breath test, .20. That's right boys and girls, almost 3 times the legal limit in a tractor trailer, loaded at 79,000 lbs. Unbelievable.
rocknroll nik, Injun, Markers83 and 5 others Thank this. -
Come on,You can do better than that. That doesn't really meet our standards for stupid driver stories(stupid with a little comedy). That was down right dumb and scarey.Atleast you caught the fool before it did like my uncle and put a fully loaded rig backwards through a pine thicket at double nickels(drunker than cooter brown.Lost license on that one). His Co driver got away lucky since a few trees did go trough the back of the sleeper but high enough not to take him out. This moron could have hurt or kill himself or God know how many people.

I finally understand why LEO's have such a dim view of truckdrivers!
If every driver I had contact with was drunk, high, too fatigued to drive, had no insurance, registration, or authority to operate, I would have to assume that ALL drivers were guilty of the same.
It's pathetic that in 2010, we still have these people, like the dirtbags that DB tells us about, out there on the road today! Someone, somewhere is allowing or tolerating these people.
I understand now why we are treated so poorly by shippers /receivers, why we are "guilty till proven innocent"!
We, by virtue of not cleaning house, brought it upon ourselves. -

As for the total DF of epic proportions who had a bottle of whiskey and blew a .20 driving a large car, I say NICE WORK on getting him off the road. Thankfully he'll never drive a truck again.
And for the record, in my 20+ years out here I would like to say that drunk driving truckers are extremely extremely rare. (But I know the title and intent of the thread is to show the truely crazy sheet that happens out here.)
A safe driver who drove 600 miles today without a citation doesnt make the news. A driver with any infraction, big or small, does. Drama sells.
If I knew which coop you resided over, I'd pull in and ask you personaly for an inspection, just to say thanks, and to get me a fresh CVSA sticker...LOL.
Then again, I take it you roam and aint stationed in a coop all the times, and will never reveal your state/local.rocknroll nik, dieselbear and outerspacehillbilly Thank this. -
I think anybody that f's up like that should loose their cdl for ever.
Brickman and Winchester Magnum Thank this. -
Yea,But did he fail a company drug test or a DOT drug test?If the DOT catches ya drunk or stoned and your charge that goes into the computer system. If you busted in a random tinkle test by the company then they can refuse to report it and opt to put the driver through rehab and it never gets on the "books"
