Hello everyone I Obtained my cdl from Central refrigerated back in 2010 and than went with a trainer it did not work out and I haven't drove since . I went back to school studied for a few years and found out they're were no jobs in my field LOL. So I moved to China to teach ESL "English as a Second Language" , Got married and now going to have my first child and realized I need to get a real job and take care of my family. So I come here to ask for your help and advice , Which trucking companies are the best for someone with no EXP ???? I am going to do a refresher course as soon as I get back to America Southern California Riverside area. please I'm going to be a father in 6 months and want to take care of my family . I don't care if it's over the road and I'm out for 4-8 weeks at a time I just want to make money . I know as long as the wheels are turning I'm getting paid. So any good starter companies besides Central Refrigerated or Prime? Prime sounds like a good company but they have a rule that if you haven't drove in the states for a year you can't drive for them. So guys and gals please help a young family man get on the right track and start getting his year exp and making money so his family can have a better life. P.S. U.S.A says I need to make enough money to support my family before I can bring them to the states and I agree 100% I love working hard .
Just starting after having CDL for 4 YEARS

Welcome home!
First I would talk to Schneider about their bulk(tanker division). They do hire from refresher courses, but not sure about the tanker division. Tankers is where the good money is.
Second after Schneider, try:
KKW Trucking
Pride Transport
Swift Transportation
Super Service
Reddaway
Your choices will be limited because many companies won't accept refresher if you've been off the road too long.
I met some clown from Nigeria, in China. He was passing himself off as an American English teacher. A couple of Chinese families saw me and were so proud of their little children having studied English for 2 years and asked if I would converse with them so they could show off their English. Couldn't understand a word the little kiddies were saying and the parents got upset with me because I couldn't understand them after they spent so much money on English lessons. I told them the guy is a fraud and he can't even speak English except a few scattered mispronounced words, so how can they expect their children to speak English. That ended that conversation.Last edited: Dec 9, 2014

Thanks Chinatown . I am going to talk to all of these companies as soon as I get back. I think I will be back right before or right after spring festival . And yes a lot of people from all over the world here in China say they're from America and really take advantage of Chinese students even a lot of Americans half ##### their job here. I can't wait to get back to the states and get trucking. My family will have a way better environment to grow and live in. Anyways thanks again and hope I can pick your brain some time.

Pick the old brain any time; it still works sometimes. I'm in Beijing.
We bought a home in Henderson, NV a couple years ago. There's a small Chinatown there, so lots of Chinese to talk to there for the wife if she wants.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
Cool I live in Chengdu. Hope to find a nice place in the states for my wife in soon to be baby. where do you recommend? my wife speak English great but I still want her to be able to talk to Chinese people and make Chinese food LOL.

Here's how we chose Henderson/Las Vegas area. We lived in Tennessee where I'm from, then I wanted a change big time, so we went to Redfin website and city-data website. Spent days and many hours on those sites looking for safe family neighborhoods with good schools and affordable housing. Also a state with no personal income taxes and good year round weather. We put all that together and wound up in Seven Hills, Henderson a little Southeast of the Las Vegas Strip. It's a little different; the house is in a gated community within a gated community, ie. two HOA fees monthly. I didn't catch the two HOA fees until right at closing, but followed through anyway because the house is in a good family atmosphere area. There were no condo's for sale in Chinatown at the time we were looking, but it worked out real good in the end. Chinatown is on the West side of the interstate across from the strip, but in a good neighborhood. My sister-in-law just bought a condo there in May. Chaley Chan with propertyvegas.com helped us; she's good for rental or purchase house/condo/apt.

Money motivated, please don't take this as bashing, but just a little constructive criticism, before starting a family, one should prepare for a family, like a descent job, but can't turn back the clock, so? Only option now is to move forward, there are many companies, that will bring you on after a refresher course, it may take many phone calls, most will have a toll free number, so, buckle up and dig in, you find what your looking for, best of luck

Oh! Let me add, DONT FALL FOR THE LEASE DEALS!!!, with a child coming, you will need to earn a living, most lease deals a great, but not for the driver, they are great deals for the company

Why do you think Schneider would be the best starter company ? Do you think it would be the best option in my situation even if I can't go tanker? They're only offering regional drivers in my area and starting at 30-32 cpm . What do you recommend? I looked at pride but I really don't know what to do. thanks again.
