I am about to go to school, graduation mid September. I have done my research on newbie companies.
I know that I want to do tanker, oilfield, water, crude doesn't matter. I have also discovered that 99.9% of companies in the field only hired experienced. I have seen some tanker companies that hire grads like Schnieder, Sunoco,Prime etc.

The only inexperienced positions I have really seen are Frac operators/ 80% out of truck positions. I am not disinclined to this work it is just not driving.

My question(s) is does anyone know of a reputable firm that hires for the oil field that works with grads?

Is the experience more important than the type of driving? Say I go drive flatbed OTR for a year to get miles on my resume.

Should I start at a labor position if I can, not necessarily always driving?

Any advice/ help would be much appreciated

    Well Young Hand!
Welcome to the Best Worst Craziest predictable industry in the World! I would certainly suggest that you get the miles and months driving under your tail! I wouldn't do the dirt moving work, Or the General labor work, If you want to drive a truck then get on with someone who will train you to drive a truck after you get the training to pass your test to get the card, That says you know the rules to driving a truck, I'm not putting down the schools they do exactly what you need to get your CDL but you don't know much about driving a truck, Go with one that you feel comfortable with, Don't jump around to 3-4 companies in your first year, The other companies you apply to will look at you as a jumper, in this industry sticking it out is a good thing here. Welcome to Trucking now forget everything you ever thought about Trucks being cool, They are a tool!! Treat them as such.

Schneider and FFE have oil field tanker work.
SVTN and CTL hire newbies for hazmat/tanker.
