Hi! all out there.I had a quick question for any body out there. Is the profit worth the hasle to own your own truck and trailer,or is it easier to just lease on to a company?I know some about it but I'm still learning all the details on getting started on my own and it's a bit over welming.I have been around trucks since I was 5 I'm 27 now.And I'm seirusly thinking about trying to own my own if the income is worth it.Any info would help? you are confused. you can own your triler or truck only and stil need to lease to a company unless you want to get your own authority and then it's a different question all together.
so does it pay to have your own trailer and lease to a company over leasing just a truck on and pulling there trailer. Generally yes if they even give you the option to own your own trl. many dont snce they do alt of drop and hooks.
Now the question of wether to lease your truck to a company or have your own authority is a whole different critter and i'm not getting into it since there is so many variables although with no experience i'd say you were stupid if you want to go get your own authority just being around trucks doesn't ean you know how things work and this industry will destroy you in a heartbeat -
Drive company equipment for a couple years first, then ask yourself those questions.

So here's the deal. I have driven semi's for 6 years now. Over the road and local. I have been thinking about starting my own company up or being a 'sub-contractor' for a company. I'm looking for the pro's and con's from both sides. If you have any 'first-hand' experience, I would like to hear from you. I'm looking for important information you wish you had when you started.

if you had 6 years experience shouldn't you know some of this? sounds fishy to me and any advice given on BS info really wouldn't be valid.
the only info I wish I had know is "go to college" -
