K40 anything is junk and you will be better off to spend a little extra and get a Wilson. I have tried them ( K40 ) and i know, they are a wast of money!

Any center load antenna is a compromise but for what its worth the K 40 is as good as the rest. The coax in a factory rig no matter what brand is the cheapest they7 can get by with and not measured just thrown in so allways go with after market coax and the more shielding and the bigger the size the better. If you can get away with LMR400 is the best but its a little bit of an over kill on a mobile install. Stay with the RG8 or RG8X and the 9 or 18th length for the wave length you are working with try to stay in the quarter or half wave length and you will get a better performing system.

K40 will perform just as well as a wilson 2000 or 5000.. I have tried them all.. the only real issue with that type of antenna is the plastic around the coil, during the winter the plastic gets a little brittle, the whipping action of the rod "can" (key word there people) cause stress cracks at the top, this will allow moisture in and corrosion will start, this will cause your SWR to swing back and forth, antenna basically junk after that happens..

Antennas like Monkey made and Striker don't have this issue, but still always a good ideal to keep them clean with compounds such as never dual ext.. An issue they do have is sombody wanting it more then you and stealing them..

    Fiberglass Antenna
I would say a simple Frances is the best I ever have tested.. A little hard getting the SWR set but well worth it...
