    Kansas logistics company announces mass layoffs

    Hundreds of workers will be out of work after a global logistics company cuts jobs at a Wichita location.

    DB Schenker will lay off 255 employees at its Wichita location at at 3355 S. Oliver, according to a WARN Notice filed with the state of Kansas.

    The mass layoffs are related to the halt in production of the Boeing 737 Max, Kansas.com reports.

    DB Schenker was the main logistics provider for Spirit AeroSystems Distribution Center. Spirit has announced its own mass layoffs related to the Boeing 737 Max production halt. Spirt says that approximately 2,800 employees will be laid off.

    The company released the following statement detailing the layoffs:

    DB Schenker will be reducing its workforce at the Wichita, Kansas
    distribution center. Notice was issued under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act on January 20, 2020. Approximately 255 employees will be affected by the change. DB Schenker is taking this action to adjust to order demand by our client. We are committed to working through this transition and supporting our employees in a
    manner consistent with our core values.

    According to the company website, DB Schenker provides land transport, air and ocean freight, contract logistics and supply chain management services and employs about 76,000 people worldwide.
