I have a friend that said he would let my son run under his authority. He would just be hauling grain locally in Kansas. I already have a truck and trailer for use on our farm, that I would let him use, for about 9 months out of the year. Can anybody give me a good idea what my commercial tags would cost and get close to what insurance would cost for the truck and trailer?
    thanks,

tags vary from state to state. if he's going to stay in KS then you just need a kansas plate and not an apportioned plate which will likely save you 50% in TX an apportioned runs about $1700 depending on what states you choose. the TX tag is $800

insurance will depend mainly on him. plus every state is different. TX is one of the highest insurance cost states only behind Florida so I'm not even going to guess

Thanks for the reply, the only other state he could possibly run in, is Oklahoma. Any idea what a apportioned plate would cost for Oklahoma? I'll try and check with my local insurance agent in the next few days and see what they say. The person with the authority said he figured insurance would cost around $5500 for truck and trailer, but he was just guessing.
