    I think they used to offer a $500/week guarantee for being available 6 days a week..lol-that does not compute to $1000/week??
    And I would check out there safety record on the FMCSA web site here before hand, lots of safety, equipment, cargo violations-

    I was working for the food grade side of Kenan and it was rough. But when I went for the road test I drove the fuel tanker out in Memphis and that guy stated he made a decent living. I asked if it was a living that someone can live or just get by.? His reply was it was good.. Not sure what he meant by that but it is what it is.

    I know it is a flat rate loads. Like if you did 0-25 miles it would pay 25.00 :: 26-54 miles 53.00 :: etc..

    They pay you by percentage of the load. No pay for waiting at loading rack, no pay for sitting in traffic, slip seating.Gas is a seasonal job around here.

    I know the food grade division gets paid a flat rate per gig. Also I heard the fuel division does the same. I can not recall the amount but I know it isn't much until the loads are further away. I'll have to find that pay scale paper I have. If not I can look back on my loads.

    You will spend lots of time (unpaid) sitting in line at the loading racks in Memphis. I know they go thru lots of Drivers at that terminal.

    30.00 for a City load doesnt look so good if it takes you 3.5 hrs to do it. Loading,Unloading fighting traffic across town.

    A friend of mine worked for them in Memphis for a short time. He didn't last long.

    I hauled Gas for 6 yrs out of the Austin/San Antonio area. You probably will be paid by the load and it may be prudent of you to work nights if you don't
    want to experience backups. You probably won't get as many lines waiting to load at any of the racks, if I use Austin as a rule of thumb.
    Min rate of pay in my area for a short local load was around $44 and increased as you went further out, up to as much as $75 Hauling gas is a good business and can't be compared with hauling food grade. Totally different business, so stop listening to those comparisons. I hauled FG for 8 yrs. But you are going to have to really focus on the job at hand as mistakes
    are rife in the gas business. There are so many things that can go wrong if you aren't paying attention, so concentration is paramount.
    On a good shift you should do around 5-6 loads a night and make at least $1000 per week. Kenan is a good company. I'm working with them as a O/O in
    their chemical division in the Pasadena TX area. So far so good.
    But it's up to the individual whether you will like it or not. It's NOT easy work, but once you get into a groove and minimize/eliminate the mistakes, it can be a very rewarding job. Just make sure though that Kenan has a strong plentiful customer base, so you will be kept busy.
    Good luck. :yes2557::biggrin_2559:

    Is paid by the load standard on the east/midwest areas? I worked Vegas, and Northern California and I was paid on average $24.00 per hour. Some companies are now paying overtime because of some lawsuit. When you are paid by the load, drivers tend to rush, and this is where mistakes, and accidents occur. When you are paid by the hour, you can work at a safe pace, and mistakes are minimized. Keenan on the west coast had a poor reputation. They were losing lots of accounts while I was working NOCAL.
