Ive heard this Smiths system thing, and I still dont understand it completely. I did the steps in that system and actually crashed.

Aim high in steering. I had my steering tilt wheel adjusted all the way up (which was real uncomfortable) keeping control of the vehicle was terribly difficult.

Get the big picture. Well honestly, I actually got that one cause I pictured myself to be a trucker all my adult life and I got it done. Big picture was me achieving my goal. I mastered that step.

Keep your eyes moving. Well I did that, and that made me wreck. I was rolling and quickly moved my eyes around in circles and up and down motions, and honestly that crap is frickin dangerous. I dont get that idea at all.

Leave yourself an out. This DID infact work. When I crashed, I had my door unlatched, therefore it was easy to escape from the truck before the fire started. From that day on, I do NOT latch my drives door. Easy concept

Make sure they see you. THIS! I took it to the next level. I mounted a huge flat screen TV screen on the outside of my tractor truck. I have one above my cab facing forward and one on the rear door on my trailer. I keep a video of assorted Freddy Kruger clips on a loop, replaying gruesome death scenes all day. People definitely notice me and they stay clear.

MOST of the Smith system steps work.

You went to the wrong school.

Your supposed to look 12 to 14 seconds ahead and swivel your head around to check mirrors and surroundings. I think it was in a text book and some videos.
