Park in the shade of another truck...use those reflective sun shields instead of the factory curtains (they absorb heat)... keep the fans going... park facing away from the sun...
I only idle when it's over 80F... too bad you don't have a sleeper door to open... makes a big difference.
Keeping cool in the truck?

I just caught flack because I haven't been logging line 2... From the Safety people. I repleid that due to the high temps in the sleeper, I've been sleeping outside of it. Ergo, no line 2, as I"M NOT IN IT! I'm not going to try to sleep in a puddle of sweat to save them money. The truck has no APU, and shuts down after 5 minutes even though they state that it will idle above 80 degrees... Horse Hockey!
Everett Thanks this. -
My boss gripes when I idle the truck also. Too ###### bad, I like cold temps (I've been known to drive with my A/C on when the outside temps are in the 20's) and won't idle for heat until temps are in the low teens or single digits, but I hate hot temps and will idle for A/C if the temps are over 60 at night. If I'm not comfortable, then I can't sleep, if I can't sleep I'm not productive and I can get very grouchy. He hates it when I'm grouchy and lazy, the extra 8 to 10 gal. of fuel I burn he can live with. If he wants to ##### that bad, I'll pay for the 8 to 10 out of my pocket or he can pay for a hotel room.

Did they offer to fix it? If not, sure hope ya got away from CRST! -
Well, after going above his FM's head, he has been flat out ignoring us for two days. Idling stopped being an issue when the a/c died today. Went above his head again and took it to Freightliner in Texas for a new compressor and condenser. Bunk a/c now blows beautifully and we're sitting at 7.3 MPG.
Gears, Motownfire and Everett Thank this. -
not having a good nights sleep is a SAFETY ISSUE . sleepy drivers have wrecks. I've had that problem before and changed the complaint to a safety issue, (in the Quaalcom, to be on record), the tone changed. loads were late, why they asked, !!?? well, didn't sleep last night in San Antonio,it was 98 at 0200, no A/C. can't drive half asleep. it got fixed.
there is an a/c unit in the bunk area for a reason, so we can sleep in comfort. that's also why I don't drive the northeast anymore. idle regs.
