The bigger chain stores sometimes blow out old stock now and then. I've seen -40 washer fluid go dirt cheap. We get it all in bulk at the shop. Probably the cheapest way to go.

We can't get minus 40 here anymore, they are getting to minus 25 and calling that good enough, and it isn't.

The truck stops get it in bulk for the buckets during the winter, it's the normal minus 20.

Repellents sometimes help it bead and fall off on its own, but not always. No answer for every situation.

I put rubbing alcohol on the windows prior to the snow. Then I put some in the resevoir and mix it with the washer fluid. It will keep ice from freezing on your windshield while your running and it help your wipers to last longer when salt hits the windshield. I spray everything down with alcohol for those extreme temps. You will still have to clean your windows but you can reduce the frequency of having to do so.

I just use tons of bug juice and put fresh blades on often.

You know the squeegee thing at the fuel pumps? I got a collapsible one from walmart and a spray bottle full of cheap window wash fluid, not Windex or window cleaner. Cost less than $10. This saves wear & tear on the wiper blades and does a much better job than the wiper blades. The hardest part for me is climbing up on the steer tires so I can reach all parts of the windshield.

I can stop anywhere spray the windshield and soak the foam pad and clean the windshield and get back underway, instead of having to wait 30 minutes at the fuel pumps while Jethro waddles in/out to get his 18,000 calorie snack from McDs.

Urine neutralizes the salt. And urine is free.

They only clean the wiper arc area. In my truck they only clean part of the wiper arc area because the outside portion of the wiper barely makes contact with the glass. Once there is any freezing precip my wipers are about 50% effective. In my truck the dirty spot between the wiper arc area and the center post obscures the traffic coming down the on-ramp.
