I am going to be ordering a new T680 and was originally going to get a Thermo King APU installed but I was wondering if anyone has a truck with the kenworth factory installed battery apu.? If so do you like it and how does it compare to a diesel powered apu? Is that all it provides, is heat/air to the sleeper? Any info would be appreciated. I have tried searching reviews and can't come up with much, just basically the same statement that Kenworth/paccar released. Also any idea what the unit costs? Thanks

I have a friend that has one in a 660 and he loves it. I think he said it was around 6-7k and the only downside is when temps are extreme it only lasts 8 hours or so.
I'm thinking about going the same route with my new Volvo. I really don't want the maint of another diesel APU but they can be real nice.

Yes I have one on my 2018 680 coupled with the Kenworth auto start it is by far the best system I have ever had in 20 years of driving trucks

If the engine needs to start to charge the batteries, do the warning chimes go off before the engine starts?
