I had a new KW back in the late 90's.....loved that truck.
Nice solid feel while driving and the sleeper was super quiet. Just felt like a well made truck.
Now my 2011 ProCrap plastic truck is no comparison...
I consider International,Freightliner and Volvo as throw away trucks....just my opinion...
kenworth,petes or volvo's

Most Freightliners are throw away. The Classic XL's and Coronados aren't but you don't see many of those out on the road compared to the 379/389's and W900's.
As for the Volvo's. The 670's and 780's are typical fleet grade stuff. The discontinued 880's are a notch up. -
At the truck stops , the Pete drivers want to brag how powerfull their pete is ( me knowing you can get about any horse power you choose in any truck). Its funny ! All in which box gets checked at order .

It's a very subjective question to which there isn't really a right answer.
I swear by Kenworths because they've always been solid trucks for me.
Some people swear by Peterbilts for the same reason.
Some people swear by Western Stars.
There are a couple that even like Volvos.....
There's one guy that likes Junkliners....
There's one poor old broad that got hit on the head enough times that she thinks that her 13 letter #### spreader is a good truck....
The rest have no choice and drive what they're told to drive! -
Man I hate to say it, I really liked the western star I drove, the truck I liked the least had to be a freightliner and just a hair above that was an R model mack.

The best truck I have ever owned or driven is the 379 I now own... least repairs and has made the most money for me.
The worst truck was the FLD I had 10 years back... the truck was good but FL parts and service are horrible...
I liked the Diamond T's I drove... and the Emeryville's were pretty decent, too. The White "Jap Freightliners" were a POS... -
petes I cannot put an opinion on, never driven one. KW's no turning radius, lots of rattles, go down the road well. Frieghtshakers go down the road well, but the new ones seem to have lots of problems especially the cascadias, quiet cabs, good ride. Volvos are my favorite, I like everything about them, great turning radius, smooth ride, big cabs and sleepers, optioned correctly they pull hard and jakes work well. If I had a choice I would drive a Volvo 780 with a Cummins ISX and a 18 speed, good driving, decent fuel economy, good pulling power, what more can you ask for?
jardel Thanks this.
